1968 Final
#1
I played golf today with an Evertonian.

Great game and we played as if it was Everton v Albion 1968.

He brought music (Liquidator and Z Cars) and we joked about stuff.

But neither could remember why both teams wore away shirts for the final.

Anyone know why?

It was the first cup final televised in colour. Maybe the contrast of colours was too difficult for TV??

Honestly don`t know.

Prior to the 1970s, whenever there was a kit clash in an FA Cup final, both sides would wear their away shirts. The only exception to this was in 1966, when Sheffield Wednesday chose to wear their away colours because they'd already done so in every previous round.
