For RB Leipzig, Oliver Burke was used as an impact player off the bench. He would come on with 20-25 minutes left to play to add more pace and energy. The problem he had at Leipzig was his lack of tactical awareness. Hässenhuttl, now at Southampton, liked his team to play high up the pitch and press intently and Burke never fully got the hang of knowing when to press and when to not and instead cut the passing lanes. In possession Leipzig played a fast game and while he had the attributes to make it work, he still struggled to adapt to it and to the Bundesliga where you have to be an intelligent player to be successful. He had some good appearances but only scored once and only started five times in the league.

When he joined us, his lack of tactical awareness was pointed out yet we still signed him. Pulis probably thought he could use him in a similar way, off the bench when Phillips is tiring or we’re losing. Instead we’re now left with a player who we overplayed for (Danke Leipzig and Pulis(!)) and who hasn’t kicked on since we signed him.

Thanks Josh, I'm a little confused as to why he commanded such a high fee and Darren talked of switching him to a striker.
In his games for Forest he looks a superb youngster, most of his good work came from quick breakaways and running with the ball.

Obviously his pace gives him an advantage. The tip / tap / passing game we are playing does not fit with his strengths.
Confidence comes with goals and sadly he is lacking both. I still believe in the right tactical team he could be a major asset and score goals.
Maybe he's not for us though.
