Specsavers County Championship Division Two, College Ground, Cheltenham (day four):
Gloucestershire 205: Hammond 82; Mahmood 4-48 & 68-2: Dent 30*
Lancashire 244: Jones 53, Jennings 52; M Taylor 5-57
Gloucestershire (9 pts) drew with Lancashire (9 pts)
Scorecard
Lancashire's winning start was ended at rain-hit Cheltenham College as, inevitably, the County Championship Division Two leaders' game with Gloucestershire ended in a draw.

The loss of the entire second and third day proved too big an obstacle to force a positive result.

Lancashire began the final day on 47-2 and at least got an extra batting bonus point before being bowled out for 244.

The hosts then reached 68-2 before hands were shaken on a draw.

Matt Taylor was the pick of the Gloucestershire bowlers on the final afternoon, taking 5-57, his best figures in Championship cricket, including the wickets of Rob Jones and England's Keaton Jennings after they had both made half-centuries for Lancashire.

The pair fell in successive Taylor overs, Jones caught behind wafting outside the off stump for 53, before Jennings was caught at slip for 52.

Lancashire, relegated in September, arrived in Gloucestershire hoping for a fourth successive win following victories over Middlesex, Northants and Worcestershire.

But, having bowled out Gloucestershire on day one, those hopes were undone when overnight rain seeped under the covers - and then the third day was entirely lost too, following further rain.

This was the second of successive matches on out grounds for Lancashire, who now host Leicestershire in Liverpool next week, their first game at Aigburth in five years.

Old Trafford is in use for the duration of the World Cup, during which Lancashire will also play their first game at Sedburgh School, across the Cumbrian border.

Gloucestershire now have a 12-day break before they too return to action at an out ground, at Arundel Castle, where they start their next game against Sussex on 11 June.

Aigburth Cricket Ground in Liverpool, England, is the home of Liverpool Cricket Club. The club was founded in 1807 and is the oldest amateur sports club in Merseyside.[2] The ground hosted its maiden first-class cricket match in 1881, a fixture between Lancashire and Cambridge University.[3]

Designed by Thomas Harnett Harrison and built in 1880, the pavilion is the oldest at a first-class cricket ground.[4][5] The first Women's Cricket World Cup was held in England in 1973.[6] During the tournament Aigburth hosted its only Women's One Day International, a match between International XI Women and Trinidad and Tobago Women.[7] The West Indies cricket team toured England in 1984 and played a tour match against Lancashire at Aigburth. A 7,633-strong crowd watched the match.[5] Lancashire lost by 56 runs, and Gordon Greenidge scored 186 while opening the batting.[8] The innings was the second of three one-day centuries scored at the ground and remains the highest score in the format at Aigburth, and Greenidge's highest score.[9][10]

While Old Trafford Cricket Ground was undergoing a renovation in 2011, Lancashire played more cricket at Aigburth, playing five matches at the ground.[2] The move away from Old Trafford coincided with Lancashire winning the County Championship for the first time since 1950, and Lancashire won four out of their six matches at Aigburth.[11] The ground has hosted 198 first-class matches to 2014[3], eighteen List A matches to 2017[12] and, as confirmed by the Wisden and Playfair annuals, two Twenty20 matches to 2017.

Two days by the Mersey for me as Lancashire start their home game travels, not been for a couple of years. The venue brings back warm memories of 2011 and basically playing the entire season and look what happened won the Championship.
Going back to the 60's recall Granada showing a match from Aigburth as a live game on TV think it was Glamorgan in those days both the Beeb abd Granada used to show County 3 day games .

Onto next week would love to see us play two spinners but suspect they will go with four pacemen again, 18 points clear at teh top and this should weather providing give us another win agaianst a Leicester side who have struggled for far too long sadly most of their better players now play for Nottinghamshire.
By good to see Paul Horton, Dearden and Lilley ex players as well as Gavin Griffiths.

Here's what the BEEB says

Specsavers County Championship Division Two, Aigburth, Liverpool (day three)
Lancashire 449: Livingstone 114, Bohannon 98*; Klein 3-89
Leicestershire 288: Klein 87, Cosgrove 70; Gleeson 4-58 & 5-1 (f/o)
Leicestershire (2 pts) trail Lancashire (8 pts) by 156 runs
Scorecard
Lancashire gave themselves a chance of victory on the final day against Leicestershire after making their opponents follow on at Liverpool.

The Foxes started their first innings on the third morning and were bowled out for 288, 161 behind.

They looked set to concede a bigger deficit at 150-7, but Dieter Klein's 87 helped them to recover.

Leicestershire then had to bat four overs and lost nightwatchman Chris Wright for nought to close on 5-1.

They will resume on Thursday still needing 156 to avoid an innings defeat.

Not been but never know why sides opening innings with night watchmen never works, good chance of winning this one althouhgh looks like we may have to be patient tomorrow

Doesn't seem like it was yesterday since we played these lads and now it's the return at Worcester HQ down by the River Severn, last season we didn't chase down well over 600 expect a closer game this time providing they get decent weather which is not a certainty

Worcestershire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Worcestershire. Its Vitality Blast T20 team - who are the defending champions after claiming their first title in 2018 - has been rebranded the Worcestershire Rapids, but the county is known by most fans as "the Pears". The club is based at New Road, Worcester. Founded in 1865, Worcestershire held minor status at first and was a prominent member of the early Minor Counties Championship in the 1890s, winning the competition three times. In 1899, the club joined the County Championship and the team was elevated to first-class status.[1] Since then, Worcestershire have played in every top-level domestic cricket competition in England.

Do recall not so long ago the above picture caused a four day game against us to be abandoned, not yet achieved my ambition of going there and next week will not change that. squad wise think Anderson may be back and is there a case for Davies?
