Hibs v Aberdeen, Sat 2 Feb, KO 3.00pm
#1
At last, back to ER to face a top four team that has a very good league record v Hibs - we have not won many games v the Dons down the years and they will be the favourites to win again tomorrow. However, there have been some signs this season that Hibs can go "toe to toe" with them, particularly in that League Cup quarter-final at ER last year when IMO we were "robbed" by them on a night when goal scoring was not in the Hibs script - goal chances galore but no takers!! What team will Eddie field tomorrow? Will he opt for the obvious and field the side that ended the last match v Saint Mirren? I don't think we were too secure defensively v a poor SM team. So there is poss some scope to improve it. Mark McNulty is already back with us and is a hibee. Do we play him? I'd be tempted to replace Kamberi TBH!
Big Marv must be fielded in a defensive mid position but Milligan is back from his Oz gig and will provide good defensive back up. Will any of our other signings be given a start? Lots to ponder although I suspect "safety first" will be paramount in Eddie May's thinking. C'mon Hibs! Lets at least "have a go" and try to win this match at home and endorse that decent home record!

The law of averages says we're due them one and considering the breaks Hibs have suffered since early November now would be a good time for us to pull it off.

FT 1-2 and, as predicted, Hibs lose to Aberdeen FC again! They started off with a 1 goal lead, couldn't hold it, and then the guy who I normally raise a "beware notice" re scoring against us, GMS, scores the winning goal AGAIN! That is another Hibs coach/manager who I can add to the list of "casualties" and didn't show some respect for that damning goals stat and deploy a tight marking strategy against this player!!!! We are not watching world class footie in Scotland!! Nowt close to it!! Our league record v this particular club is nothing short of disgraceful TBF!!!! It was good to see Shaw scoring another goal but why was he removed from the fray before Kamberi who missed a few real "snips" in front of the Dons' goal and continues to irritate lotsa Hibs fans like myself - been doing it for months and ironically played some part in Lenny's departure!!! Also I am baffled why Eddie May didn't move Milligan into the midfield area until about 88 mins on the clock??? We were losing, McInnes deployed an extra body in that area and we needed to "risk it" with reasonable time remaining in a very entertaining match!! Lastly, what about that f###### poor ref performance, another one!!!!!!!! Anyway that is our league season well and truly over as I predicted in August last year and I think we are on the brink of a ruined season when Raith Rovers come a calling to ER to contest the Scottish Cup tie if this team and management don't get their act together. Nuff said!

I'm afraid the idea that we'd be better without Lennon and the players would suddenly kick into gear isn't standing up. We were awful 1st half v st Mirren and we were soft and shapeless today. Robertson was xxxx abysmal and allowed Aberdeen to kick us all over the shop, but that's par for the course these days.

Goes without saying we need a new manager in pronto. Paul Heckingbottom's name being mentioned now - think he was at Leeds and Bradford.

IMO there is currently no "stand out name" that will emulate Lennon! I think the timing of this farce was unwelcome and Hibs have no idea who they actually want to appoint. I'm sure Leeann will eventually come to some kinda decision on it but it is imperative that they "get it right"!!! I certainly don't want another "Calderwood scenario" as the situation reminds me of the barren position Hibs found themselves in preceding Calderwood's appointment.

Hibs have said they are inundated with applications for the vacant managers post but there is a possibility most of the applicants are failed or sacked ex managers but that is not what we need. Over the years when one of our numerous managers have been appointed the board come out with the same statement. "After an in depth interview process the board have selected a manager who can take the club forward". They could have made a recording and kept playing it to us. Neil Lennon was the exception, and he has been cast aside like a well used handkerchief, so where does that leave us. No manager with any self respect will come to a club where criticism of the playing pool can see him suspended and eventually forced out of the club.
I`ve stated my lack of trust for Rod Petrie and unfortunately this whole episode has shaken the belief I had in Leeann.

I watched bbc highlights of this game v the Dons and there was a brief "shot" of Leeann sitting beside "the tache" observing this defeat and they looked a "sorry pair"!! I just hope they "rise above the malaise" and appoint someone with some kinda standing in the game!! I also notice that ticket sales for Saturday's Scottish Cup tie are very poor at the mo and I think it is related to Hibs handling of Lennon and the subsequent sacking. Lenny was highly regarded by lotsa Hibs fans and I think Hibs have underestimated that fact!
