WBA vs Norwich - Match Thread

Every season has its moments of truth, and for Albion, the major one comes this Saturday at three o'clock when Norwich visit the Hawthorns. It may not be the be-all and end-all of the promotion race - those with good memories will recall the home six-pointer against Nottingham Forest at the same time in 2010 which Albion lost in spectacular fashion, yet which proved the beginning of the end for Forest's own campaign - but defeat would put a serious dent in our hopes of automatic promotion.

The state of our injuries and suspensions list doesn't inspire confidence. However, Norwich are even worse than us for shipping goals, so in a straight end-to-end scoring fest, we can maybe hold out hope of coming out on top. A win would let us leapfrog the Canaries and blow the whole race wide open: we need to seize this chance with both hands.

It's been a while since I've been on here what with password issues, life, moving house, getting married, trying to pay the bills and of course the odd trips to the shrine to watch our beloved boys. It's nice to be back and looking forward to another roller coaster to the 2nd half of our unpredictable season!!

Yup, well remember the Forest game,  Ska'd - seemed like we'd imploded big time didn't it!
Good parallel to this one too.
Home advantage crucial maybe...... as long as we defend up to the last whistle I can see a win for us.

I read a week or 2 ago that if Norwich games only lasted 80 mins, they'd be in the relegation zone now. (Don't know if that's true, or tongue-in-cheek).

With Holgate coming in Fingers crossed Barnes - Gayle are fit. and I would like to see Harper given a start.
Our defence will be stronger, midfield will have some energy and zip and with Gayle's goal threat we will
show Norwich how to pick the ball out the net COYB
Once we're 3 goals ahead Darren then needs to flood the midfield and stop them playing in the last 10 minutes.
Easy 3 - 0 victory

I think Hoolahan may get a game on Saturday. I always like the idea of an ex-player, played for his new club against his old one. He is a club legend at Norwich and he will look to prove a point that maybe they let him go too soon. I also agree with some on here that Darren is wrong not to give Rekim Harper some first-team game time, whether Saturday is the right time, I am unsure.

I feel pretty p...d off with Livermore. His performances for the club have been no better than adequate and to get himself sent off twice and now serving a 4 match ban is not helpful, to say the least. How great would it be if he struggled to get back in the side because Rekim was playing consistently well. Furthermore, Johnstone needs to be taken to one side and told - no more bookings this season. I find it astonishing that we risk losing a keeper because of multiple bookings for time-wasting etc.

If we are to go up we need as full a squad as we can have to pick from for the many games in this unforgiving division. I am leaving for Malaysia this weekend and will be airborne just as the match finishes on Saturday and may have to wait until Monday ( Penang time) to get the result.

I remember Forest battering us that night. That was the night when RDM last used 442 as his main system. He changed to 451 after that and got us back on track. Forest continued their good form until they imploded for a couple of matches in February and then again in March. By that time we had picked up our form and took advantage.

I still remember the Forest trolls on BBC 606. They were a funny bunch who thought they’d already got promotion in the bag in January. Doh

Looking back at how 606 was moderated, it gives me even more appreciation for our moderator Ska’d.

On 606 they were way too strict and very inconsistent. I for example was banned a couple of times for telling certain trolling posters exactly where to go yet fireymoose would insult and belittle his fellow Albion supporters, including myself, and never face any repercussions.
