The Premier League finally got back to near its best, scoring a combined 139 points after a few weeks of much lower scores with a combined 53 correct result predictions to boot!! Leading the way once again is World Class with a very good 21 points, boosted by correct results on the Gamball and Bonus Ball and scoring on 7 of the 10 games. Close behind in second spot was Sanjay, mainly on the back of a correct score Gamball, the only one in the PL this week.
NEWS FLASH!!!! Third place this week was Beefy who with 17 points finally scored more points than he boasted he would, although he still didn’t reach 20!! But I am sure we will all agree that he can now be classed as having stepped up in the end and can finally put on his ultra slimming suit so he can start his part time Santa job!!
Now getting back to us mere mortals, in 4th place was Derby on 16 points. He managed to get 6 correct results including all his balls and had he managed to convert one or two of those to correct scores would have finished top, but a very consistent week for sure!! Right behind him was SCO on 15 points, finally after a run of poor weeks I managed to get into double figures, thanks to a rare Owls win on the Gamball!! Matt was in 5th spot with 14 points after getting a week high 7 correct results, a feat also matched by BBB in 8th on 12 points but missing out on the BB cost him a couple of points.
Right behind BBB was Zinman on 10 points, with these two both bottling the Gamball again, although wisely as it turns out as they both got it wrong anyway!! Bringing up the rear this week were our Terrier friends, Amelia on 9 points and Lord Snooty on 6 points, both missing on the Gamball and Bonus Balls and both likely to be in the relegation spots just like their beloved Huddersfield.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, thank you for “letting” me in on your prediction league and lets hope we see a close title race right to the end of the season!!!
Cheers
SCO
We’ll keep it brief this week as I’m sure we’ve all got other things to do at this time of year.
BBB goes into the New Year at the top of the table and only had his lead cut by a point to sit 9 points in front of Matt who climbs back into 2nd.
Zinman made way slipping into 3rd , though he is only a correct result Gamball away from retaking 2nd. Only a further point back we find SCO and Worldclass tied for 4th, the latter climbing 2 places with that elusive 20+ week.
No resting on their laurels for the top 5 as it’s only a point back to Derby in 6th, though he does drop a place this week proving just how important a couple of points can be as just 5 points cover 5 places in the table.
It's only another 5 points back to Sanjay as he sits back in 7th after a season best score this week, while Beefy came within touching distance of the 20-point week he’s been promising since week 3 to sit behind the pacemakers in 8th. It’s worth noting that just 26 points cover 1st down to 8th.
It might be coincidence or it could be why the bottom 2, were the bottom 2 in the weekly charts as Amelia in 9th will be hoping the New Year brings an upturn in her fortunes as she’ll need to overhaul a 26 point deficit to get out of one of the relegation places, while Snooty is in danger of being cut adrift some 52 points from safety away from automatic relegation or the relegation play off spot.

I had planned to a Christmas themed write up for the final commentary of 2018, but Ska'd beat me to it with his match preview (and did a much better job than I would have managed). So, just the normal, boring stuff(ing) then.
Another decent week for the Championship though again people seemed to have problems playing with their baubles. One correct score on the gamball, with only one other correct result prediction, 50% wrong on the bonuses and just 3 successful score balls. Once again the correct gamball prediction wasn't enough to claim first place. That honour goes to Twerton with 17 points (I would normally have said an "impressive" 17 points but if my quick calculation of the Premier League scores is correct, you'll know why I didn't). What was impressive was Twerton's 80% correct prediction rate - who needs the gamball when you can do that?
Stairs is clear in 2nd place despite only getting half the number of Twerton's correct predictions - it helps when one of your 2 correct scores happens to be the gamball and Baggie_One creeps into 3rd place thanks to the extra score ball point.
Nobody really had a nightmare at Christmas. Joker, fresh from his self imposed rest last week, and Bomber both managed double figures, Themaclad still appears to be complacent about his league leadership with his 3rd consecutive single figure week, and 4eva got 6 correct predictions, but bad balls put him at the wrong end of the table. Bottom this week is Quantum - while his choice not to play the gamball saved him 3 points again, just 4 correct predictions and no correct scores left him with the wooden spoon.
Apparently I've got a couple of weeks off from having to write this drivel, so can I just wish everyone a great Christmas and New Year (yes, even you Beefy).
Zin
Only one upwardly mobile player this week as the top 2 stay as they did with just a point between them with this weeks scores that sees themaclad with a clear 15 point lead at the top from 4eva in 2nd who reverted back to type with another Bonus Ball loss this week.
Bomber is the climber this week as he moves into a share of 3rd with Quantum, the former just holding the promotion play off spot courtesy of predicting more correct results this season.
The gap down to Twerton in 5th is now 17 points after being more than double that at the end of week 15 after another good week, while BaggieOne in 6th keeps plugging away to hold onto the coattails of those above him, as only 29 points cover 2nd down to 7th, where we find Stairs after making some inroads with a decent return this week.
And finally, although returning a double figure score this week, Joker still lost further ground on those above him and will go into the New Year 65 points adrift at the foot of the table.

All that remains is to wish everyone the merriest of Christmas's and followed by a happy & healthy new year, hoping both are full of good cheer and plenty of points for our respective teams, except SCO next Saturday
