Champions League 1st round quali draw - it's FC Alashkert!
#1
Just announced that the Hoops' opponents will be the Armenian league champions, FC Alashkert, who were previous conquerors of Saint Johnstone in the Europa League. However, this is Celtic who will be playing them and the Hoops should make 'light work' of this Armenian side although complacency must be avoided during a period in July that is effectively a 'close season' with players gradually building up their fitness levels.

Rosenberg if they get through. Tricky tie and the norwegians are into their season.

As 0762 said, complacency and lack of match fitness should be the only things Celtic need to worry about. But that will be a tough second round against Rosenberg!! Didn’t they play Rosenberg in a previous year?

Yep. You're right SCO. The Hoops beat Rosenborg but it was not an easy tie.

So 24 hours to go and Celtic players now training in Armenia - KO 5.00pm tomorrow! This match will be interesting as most players will still be training to gain full match fitness.

HT 0-1 and Edouard scores a precious away goal for Celtic 2 mins before the HT whistle; this testy match being played at a sweltering temperature of 37°C. So another 45+mins to 'see out' a good result.

Comfortable 3-0 win in the end, Rogers will be delighted with that as it means they can ease up a little in the return leg which can now be classed as a pre-season game probably.
