Rangers v Celtic, Sun 11 March

A confrontation at noon looms ever closer and I notice the Rangers media already 'sabre-rattling' re the poss of a Gers title challenge! They wish eh! The Hoops will relish this game at Ibronx, have not lost a league game to Rangers in a long time and that will continue after Sunday's match. Why? One of the main reasons is that Celtic have more 'leaders' in the team and that presence will be invaluable in this kinda match. Also the Hoops have a better team. Brendan Rodgers will demand an 'expansive game' from his team and it surprises me that tactically he does not target Tavernier's position which is defensively fragile. IMO the Hoops would win fairly easily if he employed said tactic because the manager has the players who can expose the Rangers captain's defensive frailties!

Rangers should go into this game believing they can get a result. They are top of the form table currently and have pulled away in 2nd place. I would be disappointed if they were my team and were conceding the title with them being just 6 points behind Celtic!! If Rangers can win this one, then the gap is 3 points and the pressure will definitely be on Celtic!! Having said that I expect Celtic will prove too good and probably scrape a 2-1 win.

Its an interesting one for sure, hard to read. sevco are going into this game as the form team for once, they will be confident and have home advantage. Times i've seen celtic of late they haven't been playing well bar the home game with zenit but their form may also be down to the amount of fitba they have been playing especially midweek . They also have a fair amount of players coming back from injury or still out injured,so this game isn't really coming at a good time for them.

For me the pressure is all on the huns, their fans are very confident of victory and they need to win to stand any chance of a title race (although celtic would still have a game in hand remember) and defeat for them would be a real blow. A draw suits celtic much more and i'll sit on the fence and say they will get it with a 1-1 or 2-2.

I agree that the pressure in on Rangers at this point, they really have to win this game if they are to stand any chance of catching Celtic and even if they do win it then as you say with the game in hand they still need help from other teams to take points off them and they need to keep winning, but it will swing some pressure on Celtic if they can take 3 points. In reality, Celtic haven't had any pressure for a few seasons, this might be the first time in a long time, so it would be interesting to see how they cope with it. I suspect they will up their game and just pull away again, but it might make the run in more interesting.

What counts against sevco's chances is their defence, it leaks goals in just about every game (5 to us alone at home this season) including to lower league opposition. They wont be able to do that in this game.

1st half has been absolutely mental Laugh

Having to throw boyata and bain in to the defence has proved very costly for celtic, but they have finished the half the stronger side.

Agreed re Boyata but IMO Baine had a good performance - apparently told this morn that he was playing in this game. IMO Rodgers' choice of Boyata was a gaffe and he should've started with the young lad, Hendry, who was assured after he 'entered the fray' in the 2nd half. Anyway, 2-3 with 10 men and a weaker Hoops' team than normal - what a 'stab in the heart' for Rangers' aspirations eh and as for that Morelos' 'miss' from 2 yards off Celtic's goal line? One word for that - MINCE! Not the 1st time that this lad has missed 'sitters'! Anyway, that is Celtic 9 pts ahead with a 'game in hand' and more injured players returning soon.

Celtic win 2-3 with their third choice keeper and 10 men for much of the 2nd half, some shambolic defending from both sides with celtic just having that bit extra quality in their attacking game to seal the points. All 3 of their goals were class finishes.

The huns talked a lot about how they were going to win this game, the media lapping it up. Celtic kept quiet and got the result in difficult circumstances. Be very interesting to see how the huns handle that going forward, their confidence must have taken a doing.

Broony 'rubbing it in', post match - we 'do the biz' on the pitch says Broony and none of this 'cheap talk' off it! Too true. The match certainly scored 10 out of 10 in entertainment value!

The thing all teams should remember is bumping your gums about your chances of winning before a match inevitably leaves you with egg on your face after it. That happened to Rangers today in a game they always seemed to be second best in although they had chances to get a draw out of it.
Celtic are quite a way ahead of most teams and even if the gap is narrowing they will probably win the league by 15 points and are odds on favourites to take another treble.
