Preston North End v Millwall

A first visit for quite a while for the Lions, having noted that the last time was a goalless draw in 2010, newly promoted this season they have had a decent ish start they are presently 16th ahead of those big clubs that Sky appear to love Sunderland and Birmingham.
They seem to have been slightly unlucky not to have more points this season as they appear to be dominating in some games except for putting the ball in the net. They beat Leeds last week at the New Den 1-0. Away from home they have lost three, drawn at QRP and Bristol City.
They don't have any stellar names however one thing will be certain is that they will be competitive, in fact given both sides are top two in the bookings table this season this could be rather a tasty encounter.
I suspect Gregory is still serving a suspension following his red card at Loftus Road, however they still have the evergreen Morison upfront as well as ex North Ender McLaughin who seems to have slotted in well at full back(always rated him)
Only doubt for North End is who will be full back as Woods had a thight injury and Fisher a groin strain so Vermijl may make a start. There is a possibility that Ben I've got a yellow card every match Pearson may return.
Tough game this one and I doubt there will be a single report of the match which will mention Arry Redcrap, which happened last week, you would have had to search far and wide for any repot on the football in that match.

Millwall have been somewhat irregular visitors to Deepdale over the years, this only their 30th league game here since their first in October 1928.
Each club recorded three wins in the first six meetings up to 1934, but it was to be 32 years before hostilities resumed in 1966. Since then, the results have gone mostly in our favour, with 14 wins and only four defeats for North End, whilst the points have been shared on five occasions.
The result of the Lions first trip here might have suggested the fixture would be one full of goals, but despite our visitors coming out on top 4-3 in a seven goal thriller, goals have been in short supply since. We have failed to score in seven games, whilst Millwall have drawn a blank ten times, although there have only been three scoreless draws. We have outscored our guests by 45 goals to 28, but neither is a good haul from 29 matches.
A few notable players have appeared for both clubs, amongst them Sam Allardyce, Ian Bogie, Patrick Agyemang, Ricardo Fuller and Sean St Ledger. Bogie and Chaplow moved from Deepdale to Millwall, whilst Danny Dichio made the journey in the opposite direction. Kevin Davies also spent a short spell on loan with the Lions before leaving Southampton for Bolton.

One of the stars of our fine side of the late 1950s, winger Sammy Taylor, was born on this date in 1933.
Sammy moved south from Falkirk in 1955 and scored 51 in 166 appearances over the next six years, as well as creating many for Tom Finney when he moved to centre forward. He also played for Carlisle and Southport before retiring in 1965.

Russ Wilcox, who was a rock at the heart of the defence in our promotion side of 1996, made his debut 22 years ago today in a 2-2 draw with Fulham at Craven Cottage.
Fifty years ago today, striker Derek Temple played his first game for North End after moving from Goodison Park to Deepdale.
We recorded big home wins against clubs who are no longer in the Football League on this date in previous years.
Way back in 1893, we beat east Lancashire neighbours Darwen 4-1 whilst in 1989, we put five goals past Chester without reply in a match that featured Brian Mooney’s only hat-trick for North End.

Lancashire referee Darren Bond takes charge of his first game at Deepdale this weekend.
Although he had done numerous friendlies and other games involving the Lilywhites, last season was the first time he took charge of competitive fixtures, as he refereed the two home 1-1 draws with Burton Albion and Nottingham Forest.
Saturday will be his 11th game of the season, having so far issued 35 cautions and one red card in the previous ten games, the last of which was Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup tie between Burnley and Leeds at Turf Moor.
He has taken charge of Millwall previously, the first time being in February 2013, when Peterborough United won 5-1 at The Den, as well as a 2-1 win at Middlesbrough in April 2014 and a 1-0 loss at Bradford in March 2016.
Darren will be assisted by Mark Jones and David Avent, with Ricky Wootton as the fourth official.
