Elise Christie was really unlucky there. She had her hand on the ice for balance and it was nudged away by the boot of the Dutch skater coming through on the inside. I'm certain the judges saw what happened but classified the contact as accidental. Christie is a battler and once she gets rid of all the emotional negativity over the next day or so, she'll be up again for the 1500m on Saturday.

The first curling Mixed Doubles Gold Medals were won by Canada - Kaitlyn Lawes and John Morris - beating Switzerland - Jenny Perret and Martin Rios in a one-sided final. Husband and wife Anastasia Bryzgalova and Aleksandr Krushelnitckii competing as Olympic Athletes from Russia beat Norway to claim the bronze medal.

The Men's and Women's competition gets under way early tomorrow morning with the GB Men starting their campaign at 5 minutes past midnight against Switzerland, followed by a game against Canada at 5 minutes past 11 - de rigeur lunchtime viewing there, for me at least. The GB Women take on OAR at 5 minutes past 5 in the morning. The Men probably are getting rid of their 2 toughest opponents early on in the competition, whereas the Women should be confident of a good start BUT take nothing for granted.
