Scottish Cup semi-final: Celtic v Rangers, Sunday 23 April
#1
So the 'domestic treble' is still on, the Hoops unbeaten run continues regardless and Rangers are the latest challengers who fancy themselves to upset the bookies odds and replicate their success of last season v Celtic at Hampden Park albeit fortuitously. Broony will be in the Celtic team as usual and there will be a sigh of relief after the needless events that occurred v Ross County! Many Rangers backers are clearly 'clinging' to Rangers good form (?) v poorly performing teams and this 'record' of not losing a Scottish Cup semi-final v Celtic in over 90 years! I'm assuming that not many such matches played during that period anyway but records are there to be broken and very good footie sides do indeed break records. Rangers manager, Caixinha, prompting 'warriors' to step forward for this semi-final tie. He'll need more than that if Celtic 'show up' and really attack his defence with sheer pace.

Think it could be close. Celtic are not playing well at the moment as they head to the end of a long season and sevco are starting to find some confidence with their new manager. As you point out they have an amazing record in semi finals against celtic.

However if celtic "click" and their top players like dembele, sinclair and rogic turn it on then they could really dish out a skelping.

I must say, 'Are the Hoops saving themselves for Rangers a wee bit after lifting the SPL title, unofficially and officially, weeks ago'!? Rolleyes We shall see and we'll also see how astute a manager Rodgers is in sussing and exploiting Gers' frailties! I'd personally focus on their RB, Tavernier, who Stokesy exposed time n time again last season in Hibs historic Scot Cup final win. Of course the other thing to consider, as edgie has consistently alluded to, is who is the assigned ref and are we going to bear witness to another refereeing fiasco with the likely beneficiary being Sevco!? Also I hope this Rangers lad, Garner, plays in this match mainly to see how the ref tackles his misdemeanours on the pitch. This lad is effectively ignored by certain refs when it ultimately comes to issuing red cards or a second yellow card and I don't believe he will alter his petulance on the pitch either! It's a reasonable bet that he'll be red carded by a decent ref!

last time garner tried his pish v celtic he ended up being stretchered off.

Colum as a ref, fer feck sake he's bad enough but Don Robertson as an extra official
And part of the reason its 90 years is the shite decisions as per last week

Nice to see the Celtic youth team win the Glasgow Cup, with at least one dodgy decision going against us

Prediction a close game Celtic by 1 goal and at least 1 "honest mistake"

Golum as the ref? It could've been worse and he will issue a red card to Garner if given the opp! Celtic to win 4-0 + a Dembele 'hat trick'!

What a Golum 'kop out' re  Beerman's 'trip' on Roberts  - an easy second yellow card for the Rangers FB bizarrely ignored by Golum!?? Rangers? Overwhelmed with a prob at left back, aerial probs for them and dominated from the 1st min onwards!
But what's this at the start of the 2nd half? A pk for Celtic, Sparky 'downed' by Tavernier - goooaaall 2-0 Celtic!

FT 2-0 and Gers' 90+ year record gone + Celtic's unbeaten record intact! Aberdeen beware - another domestic 'treble' looking likely!

Very, very comfortable win for celtic. The officials kept sevco in it 1st half. god knows how they kept 11 players on the park. patrick roberts is a smashing wee player almost a throwback to the old fashioned wingers we all used to love watching as a lad.

Pedro caixinha seems like a decent enough fella, unlike that egotistical, overrated plum warbs. He has his work cut out there - bar a few players there isn't much for him to work with.

I forgot to mention Dembele's sudden hamstring injury in the 1st half was a tad fortunate for Rangers defence because their defenders just couldn't handle the big CF. I think they would've been well thumped by four or five goals if he had lasted the full 90 mins.

Happy with as comfortable a game against new co as we have had
Would have been easier if Golum had protected Roberts how this https://streamable.com/xgp7x wasn't a straight red I honestly don't know.
Another honest mistake I suppose
I see that as bad as last weeks pen decision
Beerman staying on later was not quite as bad but could easily and prob should have been 2 yellows in 2 mins

I'm honestly happy that they huns don't think the gap is that big ....and they could have won ROFL

keep the heads in the sand and I'm happy
