Murder at the Vicarage: Albion's first-ever competitive trip to Watford ends in a 3-0 defeat, 11th September 1983
The vagaries of the fixture list send us to Vicarage Road on Tuesday night for the first time in nearly two years. When we last visited, Watford were Premier League new boys just starting their campaign, but it's hard to see them as anything but a firmly-established mid-table side now, just needing another win or two to get across the line and ensure a third consecutive season in the top flight. They have a decent if unimpressive home record, and on the back of victory against Sunderland on Saturday, they'll no doubt look to add another three points to their tally here.
Albion come into this having nabbed a good point with a professional performance at Old Trafford, and will presumably look to employ a similar strategy with (ideally) a little more adventurous play on the break to try and snatch the win this time. Fifty points is still very much on the cards, and this is a great opportunity for us to put ourselves within touching distance of it.
