Jeremy Peace wants to appoint a senior technical director to assist Tony Pulis in charge of West Bromwich Albion.

The Daily Telegraph reports today that Peace wants to improve the club’s performance on the pitch and in the transfer market and an appointment could be made before the season ends.

It is thought that Peace wants to emulate the success the club had when Dan Ashworth was in a similar role before leaving in 2003.

It's one of 2 things mate, either TP is staying, with JP saying I don't trust you to spend the money in the summer or...
This appointment should make TP quit in the summer as its obvious JP doesn't trust you to spend the money.
Either way it is at least a good thing that JP is as unhappy with the majority of our signings as we are.
I find it unbelievable that we spent £10 million on Ideye and then went out and spent £12 million on Rondon !
Add in Chester at £8 million and Mcmanamen at £4.75 million and it's no wonder JP and the majority of fans are worried about giving £30 - £60 million to TP to spend.
On the plus side, more signings like Fletch and Evans maybe in the LB, RB, LW, RW and upfront and a change it tactics (or manager !) and we should be ok...

West Bromwich Albion chairman Jeremy Peace is leading the search for a new technical director, in a bid to improve the club’s record in the transfer market.
Peace wants to strengthen Albion’s infrastructure with a senior figure to work alongside head coach Tony Pulis, with the aim of making an appointment before the end of the season.
Albion have struggled since the departure of Dan Ashworth to the Football Association in 2013 and Peace is keen to improve their recruitment and scouting network after a number of disappointing signings.

Brown Ideye was signed for a club record £10million from Dynamo Kiev in July 2014 but left for a significantly lower fee 13 months later, while summer signings James Chester and Rickie Lambert have barely figured this season.
Pulis will be involved in the selection process, and there is no suggestion that it will impact on his position at the Hawthorns, but Peace believes the appointment is vital to Albion’s short-term future.

Pulis will also be involved in the selection process
Ashworth established an impressive reputation during his time at West Brom, working his way up from the academy to become the club’s sporting and technical director.
It was during Roy Hodgson’s spell that Ashworth’s reputation soared and three years ago he became the FA’s director of elite development.
Peace believes Ashworth has not been properly replaced and wants to appoint a man with football experience and ideally wants him in place well before the start of the next campaign.
The move suggests that Peace will not be selling the club any time soon, although the West Midlanders remain on the market.
Albion were close to agreeing new ownership last summer with a consortium from the Far East but the Chinese stock market crash wrecked the deal.

West Brom have struggled since the departure of Dan Ashworth
Peace abandoned negotiations in July, admitting “it is now clear to me that this potential purchaser is unable to fulfil the terms of that agreement at this time.”
The 59-year-old is renowned as a tough negotiator since he became chairman in 2002, as proven last month with his refusal to sell striker Saido Berahino, yet Albion have become a prudent, financially stable club under his ownership.
Albion are on course to secure another season in the Premier League, with their 1-0 win at Everton taking them eight points clear of the bottom three.
Pulis has come under criticism from supporters over his tactical approach and a perceived lack of ambition this season yet is almost certain to maintain his record of never being relegated as a manager.
The Welshman faces former club Crystal Palace this weekend at the Hawthorns.

This will be seen as a 'demotion' by Pulis. It shouts 'we don't trust you, Tony'

My opion is that Pulis will leave.

I agree tidy. TP doesn't seem, to me, the type that would take kindly to having another bod brought in alongside him.
I sense JP is getting the message, and I don't think this is all about recruitment

Out of interest; what was the reason that Pulis left Crystal Palace in such a hurry?

Was it lack of available spending money or interference in deciding who to sign?

His track record of signing quality players is far from impressive so far and, even the ones worth the money paid don't seem to get a game.

I really did hope that he was going at the end of the season.

The most worrying thing about Pulis are his training methods of 11 v 11 which is sunday league stuff and then we wonder
why players are so bad on the ball, I also have my doubts about him been capable of attracting the sort of attacking players
we need in the summer to move the club forward, Ive also noticed his god awful tactics of time wasting as at one point against
Everton is took us 30 seconds to take a friggin corner. In my opinion if we lose to Crystal Palace then he has to go as the atmosphere will become even more poisonous.

Guys my comments were more tongue in cheek, we definitely want/need a new Dan Ashworth, I just want TP gone asap.
