THE MATCH - SATURDAY 13TH FEBRUARY 2016 3PM KO
v ![[Image: 150px-Brentford_FC_logo.svg.png]](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/c/c9/Brentford_FC_logo.svg/150px-Brentford_FC_logo.svg.png)
This week sees us face a club we were supposedly involved with quite a bit in the JTW, yes nothing came of all the talks, bids or media speculation that we saw. Brentford were the surprise package of the Championship last season but have not been able to keep up that form this season. They have flirted with the playoffs but never really been in touch long enough to be considered serious contenders and now find themselves 10 points behind us.
No doubt this is a game we should win, but it won't be easy. They have lost their CH to Burnley but still have some good players, especially Judge who we were supposedly interested in. But our current form, while not spectacular, is certainly producing results but we need to get off to a good start for a change and put them to the sword in the first half instead of needing to fight back in the second half!!
This will be our 34th meeting with Brentford and our record is decent at W12 D12 L9. Our home record against them is OK at W6 D6 L4, with us only winning 2 of our last 4 games here, including the home playoff game in 2005. Our game at their gaff earlier in the season saw us start well, saw Tarkowski given a red card, Nuhiu score a penalty, get pegged back, saw Helan get a red card and then for Joao to get a last minute winner, enjoy the video:
LINKS BETWEEN THE CLUBS
Current staff:
Not aware of any links from the current squads, feel free to enlighten me if I have missed anyone!!
Past Players
Garry Thompson managed them for one game for them in 2004, Lloyd Owuso is in 7th place in their all time leading scorers list, Andy McCulloch scored about the same for both teams and Andy Sinton played 150 games for them before joining us.
I am sure there are other links between the clubs, if you know of any please feel free to mention!!
THE LAST MATCH
Well what can we say about that result against Brum?? We didn't play great for the first 75 mins in awful conditions but then came alive with Hooper getting a brace in two minutes to take all the points back to S6. That win, while important as it was against our nearest rivals, had the distinct feel of those games in previous promotion seasons that ended up being pivotal turning points for us to go on to better things!! We lost Lee in the warm up, Westwood was stretchered off in a neck brace on 18 mins and then a couple of mins later Hutchinson limped off with a knee injury!! All that before going one nil down just before half time and it looked like it was going to be a bleak day. But then two goals from Hooper in two minutes turned the whole world on its head and propelled us back into 6th place. Time will tell if this is actually the case but its good to be an Owl at the moment and with some of the teams above us faltering we now have a shot of more than just 6th place!! Enjoy the video:
OUR TEAM
No midweek game so everyone should be well rested. Not sure of the injury status of Westwood, Lee or Hutch but the reports suggest Lee will play and the other two might. Knowing CC we will have to wait until kickoff to know for sure!! Aside from that I would like the team to look like this:
Westwood
Hunt Loovens Lees Pudil
Wallace Lee Bannan
Forestieri
Hooper Nuhiu
Lets attack from the start, especially as we seem to usually start so slow, lets get a lead and then push on from there!!
WHO'S THE BASTARD IN THE BLACK
Ref - SCOTT DUNCAN
Assts - James Mainwaring and Akil Howson
