THE MATCH - SATURDAY 12TH JANUARY 2016 7.45PM KO

Finally we get a different opponent to Fulham, although maybe we would win more if we played them every week!!  This week we see the visit of the basement club in the Championship, Bolton Wanderers.  Wasn't so long ago we were having a huge spat with their fans on the old BBC 606 about Megson being our new manager and them hating him.  At that time they were an established Premier League club and we were a lowly Pub League club trying to gain some momentum after the last minute takeover by MM.  Boy how times have changed and its a real shame that after the disbanding of the old Beeb forum we went our separate ways!!!! Angry

Bolton are a team in a mess.  Since their relegation from the prem they have struggled in the Championship.  They are 160m quid in debt, have an owner that is refusing to put anything else into the club, have a CEO who is on deaths door leaving the club in inexperienced hands and are trying to find new investment just to currently survive!!!  This all means they are desperately trying to avoid administration and the certain relegation that will come with the points deduction, they are having to sell some of their better players for prices that would seem below true market value (including Mark Davies to us apparently) and they will not be able to bring any new players in.  I don't envy Neil Lennon's task!!!!

But what does all this mean - well we only have to look back at our games against Charlton and MK Dons to know what it could mean if we do not approach this one the right way!!  Our saving grace may be that we are playing them at S6, a place where we are looking much stronger on a consistent basis these days, so despite them having Madine up front this is a game that not only should we win but a game that I think we will win!!! Thumb up

This will be our 118th meeting with Bolton and our record is very good at W51 D27 L39.  Our record against them at home is excellent at W37 D12 L11, although we have lost the last 4, so we need to end that streak!!  Earlier this season we fought out a 0-0 draw at their place in a game we dominated and should have won!!  Last season saw us lose 2-1 after going down 2-0 in the first 25 mins.  Hutchinson was sent off late on in this one as well.  Here is the video:

LINKS BETWEEN THE CLUBS

Of the current teams the obvious connections are Gary Madine who now plays for them.  He hasn't exactly set the world on fire with them but he is playing in a poor team, so far he has 4 goals in 23 appearances!  Mark Davies situation is still not official in terms of his transfer to us for a reported 750k but I wonder if we have agreed not to announce it until after this game.

In terms of previous players the list includes Chris Eagles, Paul Warhurst and David Reeves.  Supposed Wednesday fan played for them prior to his move to Chelsea as well.

From a management perspective the previously mentioned Gary Megson managed both teams, first of all them and then us.  He left Bolton on very bad terms with the fans who hated his style of play.  Needless to say his period with us is looked upon with more fondness by us!!!

THE LAST MATCH

Not the most fluid performance to dispatch Fulham in the FA Cup but the job was done and some key players were given a day off.  Good to see Bannan get another goal and what a cracker it was, it will do Nuhiu good to also get on the scoresheet after a long stretch without a goal.

OUR TEAM

The best 11 and best formation seem to be settling down now.  Westwood will come in if fit, but Wildsmith is doing well in his place.  I expect to see Hunt, Loovens, Sasso and Pudil as the back 4.  Midfield will be interesting, assuming we play Nuhiu, Hooper and Forestieri as a front three that leaves three midfield spots with Hutchinson, Bannan, Lee and Wallace chasing those spots.  Nice to have selection problems though quality!!!!

We got away with murder against Fulham i wasnt impressed one bit Angry we need westwood back inthe sticks along with  lees and hunt   Thumb up  forest will start so  we dont have a problem up top Thumb up  they will come and park a bus and try and snatch a goal like always Sleeping  we have to show that we are not the team we once was under SG Doh  basically trying to do the same Sleeping  we will score Thumb up but it had better be the first goal or they might just kill the game and the atmosphere ( yep there wont be one of them as you need fans in the stadium Doh dc sort your xxxx act out sunshine  Doh )

Win this and we are in the playoff positions because either  Burnley or Ipswich will draw blanks !!!!

And then we go into the game against the scum with making automatic promotion a possiblity  Huh
