Quote-a-Deano

With all the excitement and hype surrounding the appointment of David Wagner as Mannschaft Leiter, I thought I'd throw a quick quiz up where you can try and remember who Deano was praising to the hills on the day of his appointment.

First to get them all right can buy us all a Stein or zwei of Bier.

a) I think this is a fantastic appointment and (a) is the perfect fit for Huddersfield Town,” said Hoyle

b) "Obviously retention of our Championship status is vital, but we also needed a manager who buys into the club's football philosophy and structure. We believe (b) is that man.

c) Dean Hoyle says (c ) ticks every box on his managerial checklist.

d) “We have never said we don’t have good players with ability. We just need to get the best out of them, and (d) is the best man to do that for us.”

e) But the Galpharm chief is confident (e) has exactly what it takes to guide Town to the next level – and beyond.

f) "(f) has the knowledge, skills and attributes that the board of directors set out for our new manager and it is clear that he shares our vision, philosophy and values."

g) So what goals has the boardroom chief set for the new manager? “When I interviewed (g), all I said was, at this moment in time, I want us to over-achieve,” he explained.

h) Huddersfield Town Chairman Dean Hoyle said: “(h)'s football philosophy is directly in line with that of the club; he fits for what we need"

i) "I hope this appointment will reinvigorate us, bring excitement and allow us to make a big stride forward," said Dean Hoyle.

Well the obvious answer is all of them.  Whistle

a) I think this is a fantastic appointment and Simon Grayson is the perfect fit for Huddersfield Town,” said Hoyle

b) "Obviously retention of our Championship status is vital, but we also needed a manager who buys into the club's football philosophy and structure. We believe Chris Powell is that man.

c) Dean Hoyle says Lee Clark ticks every box on his managerial checklist.

d) “We have never said we don’t have good players with ability. We just need to get the best out of them, and Mark Robins is the best man to do that for us.”

e) But the Galpharm chief is confident Lee Clark has exactly what it takes to guide Town to the next level – and beyond.

f) "Stan Ternent has the knowledge, skills and attributes that the board of directors set out for our new manager and it is clear that he shares our vision, philosophy and values."

g) So what goals has the boardroom chief set for the new manager? “When I interviewed Chris Powell, all I said was, at this moment in time, I want us to over-achieve,” he explained.

h) Huddersfield Town Chairman Dean Hoyle said: “David Wagner's football philosophy is directly in line with that of the club; he fits for what we need"

i) "I hope this appointment will reinvigorate us, bring excitement and allow us to make a big stride forward," said Dean Hoyle. David Wagner

Herbert Chapman..... Big Grin

Lets face it just another load of sh1te from a club chairman......I am surprised he hasn't managed to fit the words "robust" and "blue sky thinking" or "a no braiiner" in there as well.....these are total twaddle words used by "modern" managers.....ones who find it difficult to wipe their own arses when the brown stuff hits the fan

Bottom line is Town are grasping at straws here. They have tried the usual method of appointing bog standard managers and it has failed. So what is left....appoint a foreign one and see if he can sort out the mess we are in.
"GegenPressen" is fine if you have gifted , quick, nimble footed players who can work up and down the field all day......do you really think Hudson, Lynch and Vaughan can do this......??? - I have been on the Dortmund Website to learn a little bit more about this guy. He was a 2nd Team coach ffs......and he had one win in his first 8 games in charge. If he does this at Town we will be down by XMAS. That said if he plays the "kids" who knows what will happen......maybe he will turn around this pile of sh!t that is Town and make us a team to be feared again.....Perhaps Mrs Miggins should get some Bratwurst and Pumpernickel in to savour the new continental era !

We've apparently appointed a bog standard German coach but as I'm not throwing my millions at it my opinion won't count

Not that I have any millions to throw at it.

Ok here's my answers.

I copied and pasted (and edited out a few words/names as appropriate) from either the Unexamined or The Telegraph.

a) - Chris Powell
b) - Mark Robins
c) - Lee Clark
d) - Chris Powell
e) - Lee Clark
f) - Mark Robins
g) - Chris Powell
h) - David Wagner
i) - David Wagner

I didn't look up anything that was said about Grayson as I can't stand the Leeds loving @!*&%^, even if he was in charge when we got promoted, but he's just as likely to have repeated any or all of his clichés about him as he did about anyone else. Champagne football for beer money prices Ternant was here when Deano took over and was first out of the door. I didn't check but he may have praised him to the hills too a few weeks before turfing him out.

I'd give you all a Rep point, if I knew how, for joining in (where's AmChaff when you need her?). Snoots you were pretty much spot on with that first line of your answer. Thumb up

I'm convinced that one former member of his Card Shop staff, his "Author" for want of a better description, has written out somewhere around half-a-dozen clichéd one liners for Deano. He pulls three or four of these out of a hat each time he hires a new coach/manager and drops them into the Press Announcement as he feels fit. Maybe he should get someone from his old HR Dept., or a team of Head Hunters if he had one, to do the interviewing in future rather than him being like an ever-awed kid in a candy store (OK, Sweet Shop).
