So we become the 15th team this season in the Championship to take on Brighton and try to beat them, something the previous 14 teams failed to do.  Brighton have probably been the surprise package of the season, having won the opening Championship game on the Friday night before the first Saturday in the season, they have held top spot since then.  Question is are they this season's Bournemouth or will they drop away as the season goes on??  From our perspective we have so far this season failed to beat any team who were in the top 6 when we met them, so its time we killed that little fact!!

This will only be the 30th meeting between us with our record being W13 D11 L5, so while a small sample of games we have a distinct advantage over them down the years.  Even better reading when you just include home games for us - W8 D7 L0, so for probably the only time this season we face a team that has never won at our place!!!!

Obviously this record is a consequence of them spending most of their years in the lower two divisions, in fact we have never played them in the top flight and they have only spent 5 seasons up there anyway.  Of course for me anyway, the most important game we played against them came at Highbury in April 1983 when they beat Big Jack's team 2-1 in the FA Cup semi final, a defeat that hurt a lot as it was my first FA Cup semi, but it was also a sign we were on our way back!!!

THE LAST MATCH

Not the best performance of the season against Forest, but this was a game we would have lost or drawn in previous seasons, so yet again another sign of our coming together as a team.  Forest are not on a good run, we are and while the difference between the teams was there for all to see, the form of both teams was probably the thing that got us the win!!

FF scored the winning goal, maybe their keeper could have done better but it was so well struck it beat him.  That in the end was all we needed and really we were never in trouble at all during this game, so it goes down as a comfortable 1-0 win!!

FUNNY COMMENT FROM LAST MATCH THREAD

From Imre

"Bad news lads  Doh My lucky Yellow lighter which i bought after the burnley game has died  Cry Not only does this mean im now walking round with a box of matches like some old goat  Whistle but it means our run of games will come to an end  Doh im ever so sorry to piss on your bonfires  Imre  Big Grin"

Lets hope Imre is sticking with the matches now that he has set the precedent!! Whistle

OUR TEAM

Squad rotation  continues from CC, and so far who are we to argue or second guess his team selections.  I see no reason why we won't see a few more changes for this one!!  Hutchinson should come straight back into the team in place of Semedo, I expect to see Joao come in for Nuhiu as well, but will he rest any of the players who played against both Arsenal and Forest such as Lee, Bannan or Wallace??

The following is my prediction for the opening line-up:

Westwood

Hunt  Loovens  Lees  Pudil

Lee  Hutchinson
Wallace  Forestieri  Bannan

Joao

WHO'S THE BASTARD IN THE BLACK

The Bastard In Black is Kevin Wright from Cambridge. This season he has issued 38 yellow cards and three red cards from 13 matches. His record in Wednesday matches is:

Feb 15 - OWLS 1-1 Cardiff - 7Y
Apl 13 - Blackpool 0-0 OWLS - 6Y
Oct 11 - OWLS 3-1 Chesterfield - 3Y
Jan 10 - OWLS 2-1 Plymouth - 3Y
Nov 08 - Crystal P 1-1 OWLS - 1Y
Nov 06 - OWLS 3-1 West Brom - 7Y
Sept 06 - OWLS 1-2 Derby - 6Y 1R (Sent off Barnes)
Feb 06 - OWLS 0-0 Crystal P - 2Y

Overall Record: P8 W3 D4 L1 Pts13

He averages a red card every four matches so Hutchinson will need to be careful.
The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.
