Ally McCoist has today, 10/09/2015, agreed to terminate his contract as Manager of Rangers.

Rangers FC - Club Statement (Ally McCoist)

This is in keeping with what I expected, that when it came to a choice, Rangers or Himself, Ally would always put Rangers first.

Sadly he was not able to progress as a Manager to the extent he did as a player, great players do not neccessarily become great managers, but he became more than just a Manager.

During the financial turmoil Rangers have been through, Ally McCoist became and was the one reliable constant in an uncertain and variable world.

Many Thanks for your services to Rangers FC, Ally McCoist.

As much as he was a truly awful football manager, I think we have to appreciate the work he did defending the club during some dark, dark days. I'm not so sure there are many who would have been able or willing to do what he did during those traumas. We were lucky he was there, and for that I am eternally thankful.

Now, his clueless lack of managerial awareness and tactical ineptitude won't be forgotten by many, me included. Nor will the barrel-loads of goals he scored for us during our last Golden Era.

But we are on the edge of entering a new era. An enlightened, modern and fresh era, and it's an era that might not have been possible without a flawed tenure before it.

We have much to be grateful for. Wink

I'm seeing a lot of comment elsewhere along the lines of 'Hope we never see him at Ibrox again'.

Well, I hope we do.

Next season.

When he takes his Killie side to Ibrox for a humping. Laugh

(Mind you, Killie will have a job finishing above 11th place at the rate they're going. I think they need to get Ally in there pronto . . .)

A lot to thank him for, yes, but he collected cach by the barrel load.

His comments about "not reading his contract" etc left me with the suspicion that he wasn't quite the sacrificial lamb he often claimed to be. "Stuffed their mouths with gold", Bevan. And pockets.
