The quality of our play has dipped a bit and the opposition have now had a chance to get a look at us and work out how they want to try to stop us. I still expect us to go through but what I'd like to see is a bit of a step up in our play.

Hopefully using both flanks tonight, as i see Airdrie congesting the midfield as Hibs did on sunday. And overlapping somewhat better,

The past is no guarantee of the future but, if we win tonight ...

Incidentally, on both previous occasions Rangers have met Airdrieonians in the League Cup, the Ibrox side have gone on to win the competition.
Here’s hoping for a similar omen this year…

A step up in tempo would be enough. Got to learn from our mistakes and weak performances.

A few hungry fringe players getting a chance in the side would maybe provide a positive response.

More rotation of the squad, and Warburton's mentioned a couple of times recently that he wants the players to be able to move about different positions, which I'm happy with. My only slight concern about the squad at the moment is the depth of the pool of defenders. With McGregor gone, Zaliukas also gone or going, and Gasparotto out on loan, we only have Wilson, Kiernan and Ball for the centre of defence, and Lewis White and Fraser Aird are the only alternatives we have for the full back positions as far as I can see. We can rotate a centre back for this sort of match, but we still have to rely on Wallace and Tavernier - who arguably put more into our matches than anyone else - for every game. I think basically I'd rather have seen one of them rested for this match, but it's hard to see who would come in for them.
