I've put play offs because I still think Cook will get it right .We have had these blips before and have managed to get back on track.Cook just needs to stick with his principles and not experiment with styles of play.

Fourteenth.
Between 5th and 20th is almost impossible to call. My aim for us all season has been no lower than 20th. But if we finished 6th and went up through the play offs I'd take it because it's a once-in-a-lifetime chance. My lifetime anyway. Look at tomorrow, tough game. Scunny beat Swindon, we lost to the O's. It could be 5-0 to Scunny, but we might hit form again for all I know. Now here's hypocrisy for you, but tomorrow night my first name on the team sheet would be the Hump. For his attitude. I'm also thinking anything other than an Evatt Hird combination at centre back improves us, as together they lacks pace. But we do have an excellent manager. And of course he makes mistakes. He's a genuine human being. And I'll support him wherever we finish.

L1 is unbelievably tight and the worrying thing is the teams in the relegation zone and the bottom half of the table have come alive. I think we will finish around 10th. If we end up in the playoffs come May and go up then that would be fantastic to see us playing Championship football next season and would be good for the town and for the whole of Derbyshire as well and we would attract new fans. I would love to see us in the Championship and believe one day we will get there.
People are blaming the reason why we lost on Saturday to Orient on the sale of Doyle but that's not true because if you watch the goals again look at how poor the defence were. Orients 1st there is no way Mooney should have been given allowed the time and space to run with the ball that far and there 2nd Mooney shouldn't have been allowed to shoot from there and the 3rd goal was a mistake by Tommy. The defence need to close players down when the opposition have the ball and not allow them room to shoot or even run at us. I hope we get Georg Margreitter on loan again because he played well with Evatt and Raglan at CB.

Well I think we can forget about the playoffs now that ship has sailed and we are at the harbour. When we sold Doyle to Cardiff Chris Turner said we would be much stronger. I want to know how we are stronger, we've bought in a player from Cheltenham who isn't highly rated by their fans, a midfielder called Duffy, a youth CB called Carter from Wolves, Lavery from Wednesday and Mani signed permanently from Wednesday.
We've lost three games on the bounce. One game I expected us to struggle in was Preston but not the other two. We've not scored a goal from open play since we've sold Doyle. The worrying thing for me is it all looks too familiar of 2012 under Sheridan. We had a top goalscorer who we let leave on a free to Barnsley and we didn't replace him, in L1 we brought in loan signings and struggled the only difference is on the 18/2/12 we were 22nd on 27 pts. In the end we finished 22nd on 42 pts, the same amount of points we are on now. As it stands we are only 11 pts safe of 21st. I really hope this is just a bad run of form and we get back to winning ways because if it isn't then its going to be rather worrying come April/May. If we get relegated which is a big IF then players will leave or be sold, Cookie will probably leave and the attendances will drop back to 4,000 and DA and CT will moan that fans didn't put enough money in.

What depressing read the message boards are making at the moment ,anyone would think we are bottom of the league !
Its 3 games in a 46 game season and it is annoying all this knee jerk reacting to extremes of form .If we win 3 we are going up if we lose 3 we are going down its embarrassing .Whats wrong with these people ? .The arrogance of some of our fans beggars belief ,what right have we to Championship football ?Weve never been out of the bottom two divisions in my lifetime but we are in a good place as a club at the moment . I've stopped reading the main message board today as its getting me down ,not one person has mentioned the apparent promising debuts of Gboly and Ashley Carter .I've just seen the highlights and on another day we could have had 3 goals easily . I know the new players haven't gelled but I'm sure a few weeks of training with the coaching staff and they will improve . Its less than 3 weeks since we were all raving about the performance at Derby.Lets get behind the players who have served us so well this season and we will be ok .

Its not knee jerk reactions its actually a bit worrying to lose 3 games in a row especially when confidence was so high and we were playing so well and its like the confidence has gone. What's not helping is fans slating players and having a go at them because that can't do anything for there confidence or morale. Also the loan players will be going back in a few weeks and what do we do then? Bring in more loan players? Get them on loan again? DA said last time we went up to L1 we weren't going to bring in anymore loan players because they cost too much and what do we do bring in 3 loan players.
It doesn't matter if we could score 3 goals easily on a different day we can't rue over missed opportunities. If we lose against Rochdale and teams below us win there game we could fall from 8th down to 14th.

Don't get down about it. The top four are better than the rest in our division. Sheff Utd and Bradford might be ready to join them if it weren't for cup success.
We have done very well, but the build up to Derby, then losing and Doyle going were bound to have a negative effect on our performances. Scunthorpe had just beaten Swindon convincingly, Preston gave Man Utd a game, and Orient have money behind them and a squad that should (on paper) but challenging to win the division. Twentieth upwards would be a success for us. A player we got for nothing was sold for around a million. He massively over-achieved this season on anything we saw last. We'll soon know if we got the best of the deal if he can't repeat the goals for the bluebirds. I was surprised by the team selected for Scunny. It reminded me of the team we sent for the paint splash .... and the result was similar. But the games have been coming thick and fast. The squad isn't big. I'm a bit surprised Mr Cook has swapped it around more, but things were going well for him and change is very difficult to time. Aryibi either had to get pitch time or be released at the end of the season. Playing Gardner now would be ideal, but he's never fit when we want him. We miss Roberts. We've got O'Shea but he lacks workrate. Our most experienced centre backs don't make a pair in my eyes. When things are going wrong the goalie makes a gaffe. But we've done great. We need three more wins. The sooner the better for my heart. But did anyone seriously expect us to get to fifth in this division? A couple of weeks ago we were worrying about the strength of the squad for Championship football. We're receiving an answer we don't like. But we should stop acting surprised, give Harrison time to settle in, hope the aim with Carter is to sign him on a permanent, hope Mani turns into 6ft 5ins of trouble for defenders, watch Aryibi grow in confidence when he skins the full back, think that perhaps Duffy had something to offer when Birmingham took him from Donny. And on top of this we need our own front line players to perform, Roberts to get fit, Gardner to find the pitch, Banks to wake up to the crisis he's facing. Matt, I don't think even Chris Turner could have meant that we would be immediately stronger for selling Doyle.

I do take anything Dave Allen says with a pinch of salt he does have a habit of putting his foot in it but its important we have him at the helm he is running the club in the correct way and it aint his fault we have inherited a large debt.We wouldnt be where we are without him.

Well that's what he said in the interview when we sold Doyle that we would be stronger at the end of the January transfer window. Just fed up because everytime we get a good player they get sold on quickly Ward, Folan, Cooper, Doyle and many more. The only player to have done well out of that list is Ward, Folan didn't last long in the Prem or even the Championship and now plays in Malaysia. Cooper was bought by Leeds for £750k and rumour has it he's being released at the end of the season and now we've sold Doyle to Cardiff for £750k and either gets subbed off or is a sub. I would love to see us in the Championship but when is that going to happen? Burnley are in the Premier League and they are only a small town and have a smaller population than Chesterfield. I just feel we are a yo yo club between Division 3 & 4 and would love to see us in the Championship or possibly the Premier League but at the minute those are just pipe dreams and we need to be realistic. I just felt we had a really good chance especially before Christmas but like you say Dev there are stronger teams in this Division such as Bristol City, MK Dons, Swindon, Bradford and I would say Gillingham look good as well. When Sheffield United were supposedly after Doyle I went on there forum to read about the rumours and they said that Chesterfield at best were a mid-table L1 side and that we struggle to attract support. I think unless we are in the Championship then we will always struggle to attract support especially when you've got the two Sheffield clubs and Derby and Forest and then there's always the gloryhunters of United, City. I suppose we've got a lot to be thankful for what DA has done for the club because without him we wouldn't be in this position, a new stadium, Wembley visits and two promotions. Maybe DA doesn't want to get promotion to the Championship unless we are debt free and I suppose the wage bill would be much larger than L1. I just worry we will struggle next season if we are in L1 like Orient are this season. Last year Orient for most of the season were running away with the league and had a blip and made the playoff final but lost to Rotherham and now they are struggling down at the bottom of the league. I suppose the important thing first and foremost is being financially stable so that the club is around for a long time. At the end of the day I will support Chesterfield no matter what league they are in even Non-League.
