We're not that bad at the moment when you look at things rationally. We're just missing that dangerous element in attack and confidence at the back. Mind you, when you're in a slump everything goes against you (see Raith's goals) so we'll need some luck to go our way in this match.

Football translation, can't score goals and keep conceding them, thats really not a good recipe!!! Whistle

Big game for both teams, you need to get back on track somehow, a scrappy 1-0 win with the ball going in off Boyd's arse will do!! For them, if they want to catch you they need to win this one!

We're more capable of keeping the ball now, we've got some decent link up play in midfield and our full backs are more balanced with Wallace working harder at the back on the left and Foster finally learning to use his pace to attack on the right. As you say though, it's the important things we're still missing. But we've at least stopped playing the hopeful long ball game under McDowall and although our final ball is still crap we're getting in behind defences to cross more. I think if we start scoring goals half the problem at the back will disappear too because there won't be the fear that if we lose a goal we lose the game. Of course it would still help if we could get the personnel sorted out a bit and play the right players. Drop Black and McCulloch and it would make a huge difference. I'd rather see Clark in there than Miller too.

It basically feels like we're in pre season mode, trying to shake off the rustiness, iron out the kinks and get the players working together. In a way it's only to be expected with a new manager in place who is actually making changes even if they're mostly quite subtle. Will we improve enough before the end of the season? Meh, not taking that for granted but it could happen.

Great news just in, Lee McCulloch has been 'offered' a 2 match ban for 'stamping' on Dale Carrick the other day. Even though it was never a 'stamp' in a million years. Doh

Still, two games without his disastrous, stultifying presence at the heart of our problems/defence can't be sniffed at.

Was going to post this in the 'positivity' thread, but we all know they'll appeal it and he'll no doubt get off.

Edit: Official reason given:
Quote:Disciplinary Rule(s) allegedly breached:

Disciplinary Rule 200: In that at the above match you did deliberately stand upon Dale Carrick of Raith Rovers FC and commit an act of Violent Conduct

Well, his 'stand' - not a stamp at all - cannot possibly be violent conduct then, can it? There was no downward motion or pressure at all, as far as I can remember.

Would like the club to fight this all the way, if it wasn't for the fact we could actually gain something from his omission. Fair has to be fair though, surely?

Edit2: Oh, and the two matches he's been offered a ban for are split between the next match, and the next match he plays in the Scottish Cup. Which might never happen for him. Could the SFA possibly f*ck this up any more?

I don't really know where else his foot was meant to go. Why was Mark Stewart flying into Simonsen's head studs first not a 'stamp'? Collisions of heads between players trying to head the ball should now unquestionably be considered head butts etc. This charge is a load of shite and they know it, but seeing as it's us he gets banned.

I'm hoping he appeals and they lengthen the ban though. I agree that this could be a brilliant result for us.  Cool

McCulloch, as expected, will contest the ban.

Reading the reactions on social media (twitter mainly) has been hilarious. They have it as "a clear as day stamp on a young kid" when it was nothing of the sort. The continued demonisation of anything to do with Rangers is astonishing.
