Ross County v Hibs - Saturday 4 May
#1
Hibs face another long trip north to face a Ross County side still desperate for points to lift themselves out of the Play-off spot. The last time Hibs travelled that far north, they dominated the game and were looking good for long spells, but still managed to lose a goal deep into added time to finish 2-2.

Last week against St Johnstone we also lost a late goal after dominating the game, so it's clear where our problems lie. We are easily good enough to get the win, but it is Hibs we're talking about, so you just never know. The likes of Simon Murray will try to run our defence off their feet and Ross Laidlaw at the other end will play an important part too.

Monty on the game
"They’re a team that’s been fighting and scrapping for a number of weeks. You saw their result against Rangers and in their day they’re a good team. They have some strong players, so it’s important we give them respect, but we have to play the way we play. Disappointingly last time against them an incident at the end of the game cost us two points. We have to look at ourselves for that, but we also got an apology after, which doesn’t matter. We have to go back there tomorrow and take all three points."

Hibs have failed for a while now to have the ability to see games out especially in important ones. Fault must lie, of course, partly with the players but also with NM for tactics and also not using subs to the best. Recently this was seen at Motherwell where despite having some left to make he didn't do so in added on time that would have broken up play and also wasted time.......this ultimately cost Hibs their top six finish.

Another interesting game to see if Hibs are up for it ..........Ross certainly will with more at stake for them. Huh

Well the only good thing after that is sticking Potter in the play offs zone.

I mean whatever genius thought giving the manager an ultimatum of winning these games with players who are already on the beach, several of them loanees needs emptied alongside NM. Once again though his game management has left much to be desired, bringing on tavares was almost like asking to be sacked.

Rocky is so bad its actually comical. But its not just defence, we are pish weak all over the park.

We need a massive clear out and revamp for next season and a good start would be shipping this eejit back to australia pronto.

Lost a goal after 88 minutes to lose 1-2. I don't really need to say any more.

Let him finish the last games then mutual consent him. There is just no reason to stick with him further.

We have lost a higher percentage of games since January than we did in the months before and remember he talked up getting to that point to improve us? He started off with one win in eight but it hasn't got any better. He's been given some decent quality players in the january window yet he hasn't been able to get the best out of them.

Its undeniable that he just isn't good at in game decisions or possesses any tactical acumen. He also has zero in the way of charisma which doesn't help things as the support have now completely disconnected. That was further evidenced at the end of yesterdays game.

In the summer we need an entirely new backline, a proper physical midfielder, a winger and a natural goalscorer Blank canvas job basically, and we need someone a lot better than NM to oversee this.

If this is allowed to continue and the powers that be don't get a serious grip on things we are heading into a crisis on a par with our relegation period.

BBC Match Report
"Hibernian appeared to have the same idea (lightning attacks). But Nick Montgomery's men shot themselves in the foot too many times by displaying complete ineptitude in defensive situations.
Wollacott, Bushiri and Paul Hanlon all had moments to forget, with only the skipper's blushes spared. The 'keeper and his defensive partner were not so lucky as two mistakes led to both conceded goals."
Hibernian head coach Nick Montgomery: "I thought we dominated the game. In areas of the game, we played some really nice football. But we come away with nothing because we make mistakes, concede two really poor goals and don’t take our chances. We should’ve taken three points."

Says it all really. Receving money under false pretences would be another way to describe what's going on within the Hibs team and management.

Following on from my comment about substitutions in added on time in order to run the clock down, failing to do so against Motherwell and then on Saturday when Hibs are chasing the game and needing all the available seconds he brings on someone. Doh

Shambolic stuff wasn't it ? I'm more convinced now that he hasn't got a scooby what he is doing. We are 12 points behind 4th placed kilmarnock!!!. This season has been a failure by any reasonable standards.
Why he didn't do more to address our obvious defensive issues in January when he had the chance is just bizarre. The big Aussie he brought in looked a complete bombscare and ended up playing better in midfield.

Time to hear the results of this "strategic review" ...... the club is a complete mess at the moment and we have squandered a significant amount of money. We badly need direction.

So far, it looks like the review has resulted in two senior Hibs players in Hanlon and Stevenson have been unceremoniously shown the exit door.
