Thorndike, an Albion academy product since the age of eight, thought he was too good and too big to stay at the albion. At the end of his contract last year, aged 19, he decided not to sign a new deal and to leave on a free for seal park.
Roll on twelve months .... Now aged 20, having played 22 times for viles under 23's he moved on to the mighty blues, two year deal, one year option for their development squad.
How many more of our academy players who have or will leave will meet the same fate before they start to realise the grass is not always greener. The hype of their parents and agents blowing smoke up their arses does not mean they will be guaranteed to succeed elsewhere.
