Stephen McLaughlin has signed a new two-year deal with Mansfield Town.

The 32-year-old former Nottingham Forest and Southend United left-back already had an option on his previous deal triggered at the end of the season.

He has made 90 appearances for the Stags since arriving in 2020 and started in their League Two play-off final defeat by Port Vale in May.

"He has enjoyed an exceptional 18 months," said Stags boss Nigel Clough.

"He gives us an attacking threat down the left hand side - along with Stephen Quinn and others - and was instrumental to the way we played last season."

Mansfield Town have signed midfielder Anthony Hartigan on a two-year deal from AFC Wimbledon, after agreeing compensation for the transfer.

The 22-year-old has scored six goals in 166 games for the Dons since his EFL Cup debut against Brentford in August 2017, including two in 42 last season.

He joins Nigel Clough's Stags having left their League Two rivals on the expiry of his previous deal in July.

"He's somebody who we've watched for some time," Clough said.

"Anthony is a young midfielder with a lot of league games under his belt for his age. He'll bring something different to the squad."

Mansfield Town captain Ollie Clarke has signed a contract extension keeping him at the club until June 2024.

The midfielder's new deal comes four months after Mansfield triggered an option to keep him at the One Call Stadium until the summer of 2023.

Clarke, 30, has scored twice in the past four games, including the winner against Stockport last month.

"He's proved in the past few weeks what an important player he is for us," said Mansfield boss Nigel Clough.

Clarke, who has made 76 appearances for the Stags since arriving in July 2020 after more than a decade with Bristol Rovers, said he wants to remain at Mansfield "for the long haul".

"I'm glad to get this sorted and over the line and am looking forward to help the club progress in the next few years," he told the club website.

League Two side Mansfield have signed former Harrogate left-back Lewis Page on an initial one-month contract.

The 26-year-old was let go by Harrogate in May and has been recovering from a foot injury suffered in March.

Page, who has been training with the Stags, started his career with West Ham and has played for Charlton and Exeter.

"He has good pedigree and, most importantly, will give us much-needed cover and options down the left side," said Mansfield boss Nigel Clough.

Mansfield Town have signed defender Alfie Kilgour from Bristol Rovers on an 18-month deal.

The 24-year-old joins the Stags for an undisclosed fee on the same day that the club sold Oli Hawkins - a regular at centre-half after switching from being a striker - to Gillingham.

Kilgour made 118 first-team appearances for League One side Rovers, a club he first joined aged seven.

"Alfie's a proper defender," Mansfield boss Nigel Clough said.

"We've conceded too many goals this season and need a defender.

"One of the problems we've had is that we've had people play back there who aren't natural defenders and he's a natural defender."

Kilgour last featured for Bristol Rovers on 13 December and ended with a red card in their 4-1 win against MK Dons in the Papa Johns Trophy.

Mansfield Town have signed full-back Callum Johnson on an 18-month deal from Scottish Premiership side Ross County.

The 26-year-old joined Ross County from Portsmouth as a free agent in the summer, and leaves for an undisclosed fee after making 21 appearances.

Mansfield will be the fifth club he has played for since September 2020, when he left Accrington for Pompey.

"Callum's another player we've been aware of for a good number of years," said Stags boss Nigel Clough.

Johnson, who had a loan spell at Fleetwood Town last season, had started 16 of the 21 games he featured in for Ross County this season.

He is the second defender signed by Clough in as many days, with Alfie Kilgour joining from Bristol Rovers on Thursday.

"He's a wholehearted player. He'll get up and down on the right hand side for us and defend as well.

"At 26-year-old, he's possibly approaching the prime of his career."

Mansfield have signed midfielder Louis Reed from fellow League Two club Swindon Town for an undisclosed fee.

The 25-year-old made 67 appearances for Swindon after joining them from Peterborough in the summer of 2021.

Reed will be reunited with Mansfield boss Nigel Clough, who gave him his senior debut as a 16-year-old at Sheffield United in April 2014.

He is the third transfer-window signing by the Stags, following defenders Alfie Kilgour and Callum Johnson.

"After losing Anthony Hartigan for the rest of the season, Louis comes in as a direct replacement," said Clough.

"He was one of the best midfielders in League Two last season and has experience in the league above as well."

Mansfield have only picked up one point from three games since the start of the new year and are ninth in the table following Saturday's 1-1 draw with Crewe.
