Doncaster Rovers have signed midfielder Harrison Biggins following his release by Fleetwood Town, on a two-year deal.

The Sheffield-born 26-year-old returns to South Yorkshire in linking up with Rovers, after five years, six goals and 101 games with the Cod Army.

Biggins, the son of ex-Stoke striker Wayne, scored five goals in 37 games for Fleetwood last season.

"The intention this season is to get this club back into League One," Biggins told the club website.

"That's my aim, I want to be successful and I think this is the perfect place to come and get trophies."

Doncaster Rovers have signed striker George Miller on a three-year deal after his contract at Barnsley expired.

The 23-year-old scored 12 goals in 41 games on loan at Walsall last season.

Miller came through the ranks at Bury before joining Middlesbrough, and has also had loan spells at Wrexham, Bradford and Scunthorpe.

"I'm buzzing," he told Rovers' website. "Every week I'll give it everything, run my socks off for the team and hopefully top it off with some goals."

Doncaster boss Gary McSheffrey believes Miller, who cost Barnsley £200,000 in January 2019, will add a different dimension with "his work-rate, his energy, constantly wanting the ball in behind".

"He got a good amount of goals last year in a successful season for him," he added.

"We want him to come in and do the same - be a nuisance up top, cause defences problems and he will certainly do that.

"He goes for 90 minutes and that was what we were missing in that area."

Doncaster Rovers have signed centre-back Adam Long from Wigan Athletic.

The 21 year-old defender arrives in South Yorkshire for an undisclosed fee, signing a two-year contract.

"Ever since I spoke to the manager, I felt like this is a place that I've wanted to come. His plans for this season are amazing and it's something I want to be a part of," Long said.

Doncaster boss Gary McSheffrey added: "Left-footed centre backs are always good to give you that balance.

"And him being quite cultured and calm on the ball, it ticks all the right boxes."

Long is Doncaster's fifth arrival this summer, as they look to return to League One at the first time of asking.

Doncaster Rovers have signed defender James Maxwell on a two-year deal, following a trial with Gary McSheffrey's squad.

The 20-year-old was at Rangers for three years but never made a first-team appearance for the Glasgow club.

He has first-team experience from loan spells with hometown club Ayr United and Queen of the South.

"It was something I wanted to do straight away," Maxwell said.

"This offer gave me a bit of excitement, a bit of a buzz inside so I'm delighted to get it done."

Boss McSheffrey added: "He coped and dealt with the games he played during his trial really well."

Doncaster Rovers have signed midfielder Kyle Hurst on a two-year contract as well as veteran midfielder Lee Tomlin.

20-year-old Hurst signed a three-year deal with Blues in 2020 but joins following a successful trial at Rovers.

Meanwhile, Tomlin joins on a one-year deal having most recently played for Walsall on a short-term deal.

"It's a proud moment to sign and it's a big moment in my career, it's something I've wanted to happen since I first came here," Hurst told Rovers' website.

"You're always nervous entering a new dressing room but knowing a couple of the lads made it easier. I've tried to get around the younger lads and encourage them on the pitch," Tomlin added.

"He's been involved in every game and played in a couple of games with the youth team when we've asked him to. He's just got on with things.
