A bit of a preaching to the choir rant, but I see Todd Boehly has signed a £4.25 Billion deal to buy Chelsea and after the purchase will be investing a further £1,750,000,000. To put this into context, since the 2018 season we have spent a total of £61,900,000. ('transfer league' and are second in the spending table for the Championship over the same period, I assume that includes Prem time).
Viewed another way at our current 'average rate' of spending that much money invested in the club would last us "170 YEARS", Or for the clubs entire history plus another 26 years in reserve
Now I am not a defeatist by any stretch, in fact I remember the days when we used to slap clubs like Chelski (**** I am going to have to find something else to call them now, perhaps the L.A. Dodgy ones) and Man Shi**y, around for fun but it was never because we could out spend them at these ridiculous levels.
When clubs are paying amounts for one player which would cover our entire transfer spending for 9 years and then buying another similar player for good measure, there has to be something wrong, 'IF' this is supposed to be a 'competitive sport'!! I have said it before and I dare say I will say it again, either maximum financial spending has to be made fairer (don't mention FFP) or they should all go to whatever piece of footballing heaven they dream of and leave the rest of us meagre mortals, to enjoy our great game in peace, in a world where the is at least a small chance of a league trophy or a cup.
