Andy Carroll has played his last game for the Baggies, he was today told he would not be offered a new contract and would not play in the last 2 matches to protect his fitness. It is said his wage demands were to high and we want to go in another direction.
I would not have minded him but with his wage demands and injury problems it’s a good decision.

One of the few bright moments of Bruce’s tenure so let’s punt him! Thank goodness we can keep that prolific marksman Robinson, I dunno where we’d be without him.
I’d really like to have kept Carroll but I’m sure Steve knows best……whatever!

I'd like to wait and see who replaces him. I cannot see how we could get anyone of his standard for free, even if they want a reported £20K/wk.
I don't think that reported figure is correct, it's rumoured he gets £2K/wk now (vs £1K/wk at Reading) I think he is worth £10K/wk on as a pay / play contract that protects us against any future injury issues.
When you look at Dike and Grant costs Andy Carroll is simply a bargain.
Let's see what Bruce gets in during the rebuild.

Couldn’t agree more, Bluebaggie, I think it’s a stupid decision. The more I see of Bruce’s decisions, the more I despair

Have no idea what he's on, what he wants, etc. I take paper talk with a pinch of salt.

I appreciate if what he wants is beyond what we can pay, then there's probably not a lot we can do about it...

But from a footballing point of view, I think he's been our best player since he came in. I think him and Dike would've put fear into opposition defenders as a duo. For me I'd be looking to keep him and save cash by offloading some of the dross we have on long term contracts.

Having said all that, it might be him who doesn't want to stay. Who can blame him with the service he's had since joining... or lack of it. And he must've been annoyed on the occasions when Bruce dropped him when he was our best player too. I guess they never had a strong player - coach relationship historically.

If you can believe reports, I get the impression he was enjoying his time with us and wanted to stay. I’ve no idea what money he wanted but I can’t believe it was astronomical. The problem is that we’ve tied ourselves into long contracts with bang average players

Very true...

Whoever identified and sanctioned the Ken Zohore transfer really stitched us up. But I guess he's just one of many.

Another stupid decision by a ... manager/whatever, especially if its to do with money when they have had to pay off TWO managers that they didn't want. He was worth keeping as he showed in his games he played.
Stupid, stupid, stupid. Huh Doh

Carroll is one of 5 centre forwards we have according to Bruce.
He obviously has forgotten he has been our best centre forward since he came
Clarke has been our best Centre half so let's get rid of him.
Johnstone has been our best keeper he's off.
And Steve doesn't plan to replace any of them.
Good luck to Carroll done a fine job for us

I read that Bruce’s rationale for letting CARROLL go is that we have two similar centre forwards in Dike and Zohore.

While I’m guessing we all have high hopes - and crossed fingers - for Dike, I don’t know any fan who has similar views on Zohore. The guy is a lazy, useless lump. There’s a reason, Brucie, why he’s only had a handful of games for us, there’s a reason why he’s been loaned out and there’s a reason why none of those clubs wanted to sign him. He’s total crap.

Andy Carroll puts in more effort in one half than Zohore can manage in an entire season, and a one-legged Andy Carroll would pose more of a threat to a defence than that two legged useless lump. If Steve Bruce thinks he can get even ONE half decent performance out of Zohore, he’s an even bigger eejit than I took him for.

Why we have not bitten the bullet, paid up Zohore’s contract and got rid of him is beyond me. To think that we’ll let Andy Carroll leave and keep Zohore is, for me, beyond credibility. I can only say “Steve Bruce you’ve confirmed you’re as clueless as I thought you were”.

Unbelievable Jeff!
