If you'd said at the season's beginning that come February, we'd be a point and a place above Luton with a game in hand in their favour, you'd have hoped that David Pleat had come out of retirement to bring the golden years back to Kenilworth Road. Sadly, the two clubs have instead met in the wilds of mid-table, with Luton looking distinctly upwardly-mobile in their form. To my eyes, Steve Bruce has elicited a spark of effort from the players in the last two matches, but that effort isn't matched by confidence or (in some cases) quality, and the results have reflected that.

Our historical record against the Hatters is a positive one, with four league wins on the bounce stretching back to 2006-07, and a far longer unbeaten run at Kenilworth Road since Luton's 3-2 win on 3rd May 1994. But our goal drought on the road is reaching epic proportions, having now equalled the run from 1986, and standing just one shut-out short of being our worst since the dry run of September-December 1923. Nor does the weather forecast promise the friendliest of conditions; presuming the game goes ahead, torrential rain and gale force winds are the forecast for Bedfordshire. But two years ago, an Albion promotion challenge on the rocks ventured down to Millwall on a stormy February weekend and came back with vital points; somehow, this weekend Brucie must look to do the same.

How pitiful is this? 65 minutes in I thought it could not get much worse after VI!! They are even more tactically inert than they were then, there was more tatics played by my school team. Bartley so far having the worst game I have seen him play in the stripes, for me Grant looks better just off centre than on the wing. How is Reach starting ahead of GD and Robbo? These are embarrassing times, we have the players it is a matter of sending them all to the same game team talks as it looks like there are 3 different ones going on.

If there was ever a honeymoon, it's over now.

I said it couldn't get any worse than under Ismael, regardless of who got the job. However, this is equally as bad.

Has Bruce watched our games this season or is he just after a pay day? I'd suggest the latter, because any manager worth their salt would've watched the games and seen how much 3 at back restricted us. The fact Bruce has reverted back to it suggests he's done no due diligence.

The only change he's made is bringing in the woeful Adam Reach. How he has kept his place in front of Gardner Hickman or Grady after his performance in the week is beyond me. He's one of the worst footballers I've seen wearing the shirt

Is it too early to call for Bruce's head?

The season is a write off but we need someone who can recognise a footballer to do it. As i suspected, Bruce doesn't know his arse from his elbow.

I can't remember the last when I was so despondent with the team. Nobody seemed to care, pretty obvious when a 35 year old gets a free header from 10 yards in a crowded area. It looked as if no one knew what they were supposed to be doing. They lacked direction, it was not even hoof ball it was more boot it in that general direction ball, match tickets, train ticket would have been over £200 for that, which would not be so bad if I was on £5 000 a week, which I do not begrudge them, 'IF' they work for it, but i wonder how many of us would still have a job if we put that much effort in.

I said after the Sheff Utd. Shambles that I had some sympathy for Bruce given the absolute dross he inherited, but he must recognize that it's time to ditch the likes if Reach (who us f#%king atrocious) and play TGH, and some of the other kids who at least would try.
Unfortunately Bruce is just following in VI's footsteps and doing nothing to change the dynamic. It's not rocket science to see where the problems are, and although he probably doesn't have the players to rectify them, he could at least try something different.
Forget this season, ditch the dross, play the kids, they certainly can't do any worse.

Depressing.

But I did say at the start of the season in many ways I’d rather stay in the Championship. But I had expected it to with exciting, attacking, free flowing football.

This is so bad.
