Apparently convicted rapist and jobseeker Ched Evans is to sign with a Division One club on Monday. So says Gordy Taylor, short, fat hairy-legged ex-winger and would-be pensioner.
Who will be the lucky recipients of plenty of goals and lots of abuse? And what's your opinion?

I heard that interview this morning. Taylor started out with the fact that he would be signing, but at the end of the interview he was a bit more doubtful following interrogation from Gary Richardson.
Can't see it happening myself.
They're now saying it's Oldham.

Despite the assertions that rape is rape, it seems obvious to me that rape using violence is different from what Ched Evans did. For violent rapists, power is their aphrodisiac, the more afraid their victim, the happier and more satisfied they are.
Evans' problem seems to be that he hasn't actually got it that sex takes two. Even if his drunken victim had murmured something he took for consent it should have been obvious to him that sex was not only inappropriate, but also that it would be pretty unsatisfying. At best he was masturbating inside another person ........
Unfortunately there are men who never achieve much more than this in their whole lives and I'm sure Ched would not be the only man who would have behaved as he did. The Victorian idea of men "having their way" still survives and women are often turned, or turn themselves, into mere adjuncts to a masturbatory process. Even the goddam law talks about "consent", rather than shared experience. No wonder we end up with such a penis-driven society.
Whether he should be a pariah for life is another matter. And there's also a lot of Americanised crap talked about role models that people repeat parrot-fashion. A bit of me feels sorry for Ched, his girlfirend and her dad who clearly has too much money. But a lot more of me feels sorry for a girl who gets drunk and finds her whole life being forcibly removed.
I'm glad it wasn't Chesterfield who were contemplating signing Ched Evans, but I wish there was a club out there which would say it would sign him on condition it could help him receive psychiatric help, that he would agree to face the girl concerned and would devote himself and some of his salary to helping her re-build the life he destroyed.
Even if his case review finds his conviction to be unsound ....... he and those who supported him did wreck someone's life. Even if he did not commit rape within its legal definition he should volunteer to do everything in his power to mend some of what he's broken. And perhaps he could donate to Rape Crisis centres and even address younger men who might be going out into the world with similar attitudes to women.
He could turn himself back into a man instead of a wanker .......

You see I have little time for his girlfriend who has the appearance of the usual wannabe. She can have no pride to have stayed with him. But that's me. There are women out there who can forgive cheating although this is more than cheating. However she wants the life being married to a footballer can give her little to do with love I suspect. Old cynic that I am.

I didn't know that but still fail to see why she would stay with him either as a cheat or a rapist.
And what are her own achievements?

Ched Evans is a convicted rapist. People who say he's served his time are wrong. He's NOT served his sentence he's out on license which means if he puts a foot wrong he'll be back inside. Also these people who say he should be allowed to play again would you want him playing for your team? No you wouldn't because he would tarnish your club and your clubs history. Any club he goes to he will tarnish there history and become hated by football fans in general. No football club can afford to sign him because they will lose too much, fans, sponsors, even players and most importantly their reputation.
I would find it really disturbing if he signed for a football club and youngsters looked up to him and wore the clubs shirt with his name on it and chanted his name when he scored a goal because that would give the impression and send out the wrong message that its ok to go around and commit any serious crime you want and go back to your profession. Playing professional football is a privilege not a right.
I don't understand how his girlfriend and her father can stand by him and defend him to the hilt after what he's done, more fool them I say. He's not only cheated on his girlfriend but he's committed a very very serious crime and ruined a woman's life all because he didn't understand the word no. Had he been sensible and mature enough to take no for an answer in the first place he wouldn't be in this mess today. He's shown no remorse and has said sorry in a weird round about way but not to his victim! The woman he raped has to live with that for the rest of her life. Did he think about his career that night? No he thought about what was in his trousers instead.
Doctors and Teachers aren't allowed to go back to there profession if they've been convicted of sexual assault so why should footballers or people in the public eye. He's ruined his career and should never be allowed to play football again.
