Buying and Selling? Rooney?

Does Quigley's arrival mean we are going to wave goodbye to Tshimanga? According to The Sun, much bigger clubs than us are interested in him. As far as I could see they only named Hearts. Well I don't want to be rude but I think only two clubs in Scotland would afford him and Hearts aren't one of them.

I could certainly see him scoring plenty in EFL 1 or 2, and perhaps even the Championship. But age is against him developing quickly enough to go higher ...... but I suppose we all thought that about Jamie Vardy too.

Yesterday I noticed Matty Briggs Dorking's lovely winger grabbed a hat trick and was branded unplayable - one opponent lasted 17 minutes before being sent off for foul play. But the name that really springs to mind is Rooney. Wayne has done well at Derby, but apparently the club may only have days left. This is terrible and cannot be allowed to happen to such a proud and well-supported club. If it does happen though, some promising young players would be looking for jobs, one or two of whom might welcome a trip up the road .........

But another Rooney, John, has been welded to the bench at Stockport since the advent of Dave Challinor. The team is winning without him, but yesterday they used subs at Dagenham and he remained seated. We have forwards who would absolutely benefit from a man behind them with an eye for a through ball and the capacity for a rasping shot. I was hoping that we would put Asante and Tshimanga together and that Danny Rowe would fill that role behind them brilliantly, Mandeville can do the same, but quite often just doesn't. So why not put in a cheeky bid for John Rooney? He can't be happy at Stockport, they might not want us to have him, but the spare cash could buy them whatever Challinor thinks they do need. First step is start a Social Media rumour that Chesterfield are seriously interested in John Rooney, that should unsettle him nicely.

Yesterday was a bit of a letdown. 3 strikers looks great on paper but it needs someone to get the ball to them. It just didn't work. We started lumping the ball up to Quigley and never stopped until he went off to be replaced by Denton = more of the same.
We created chances but we were so predictable Aldershot just soaked up the pressure time and time again. They were also quick on the break but we did ok defensively.
Not sure what Rowe was thinking about but it wasn't good. He should have changed it at halftime but we just carried on lumping it.

Still, top of the league and a game in hand on second. Problem is Stockport are only 2 points behind us and are on a good run. A week on Tuesday should be interesting.

I was surprised we bought Quigley. It must mean we are thinking of selling someone. Trouble is neither Asante, nor Tshimanga will benefit from belting the ball high. It's great having a big man to turn to when it is 0-0 with quarter of an hour to go, but to play that football throughout the game you have to be very good at it and very strong. Against a keeper who likes high balls and a centre back whose best feature is heading and you are struggling.

I would take whatever The Sun newspaper says with a pinch of salt. Tshimanga won't go to Hearts not when Championship teams are interested. It wouldn't surprise me if Brentford, Brighton or even West Ham are interested in Tshimanga.

I don't think we need another centre forward but I think we need a creative centre midfielder to be a playmaker and create opportunities for our forwards.

If you look at the line-up for yesterday, Rowe had brought back the injured players back into the fold and gave them a run out probably to gain match fitness. A lot of people panicked about the loss to Maidenhead but when you look at it we played 3 games in 10 days all away and all in the London area so at some point it was probably going to take its toll. Maidenhead seem to be our bogey team since we came into this league but also this season they seem to be picking points up against the top half teams but struggling to beat mid table and teams at the bottom of the league.

I don't think we should panic as there is still a lot of football to be played and teams around us will drop points and lose games as will we come the end of the season.

Nathan Tyson has been sent on loan to Alfreton for a month. Rumour that Scunthorpe are interested in Stefan Payne. Danny Rowe hasn't played for a long time but James Rowe said in an interview it was a private matter. It wouldn't surprise me if Denton is sent out on loan to get some match fitness.

There was a rumour that we were interested in Harry Cardwell from Chorley but he joined Southend. There is a rumour that we are interested in Callum Roberts from Notts County but I think they want to hang on to him.

Interesting rumours Matt. shame that it is you and not Mr Rowe who is recognising we lack creativity from midfield. Two years ago I'd have been convinced we would have it by now from Rowley ........ but even his former cheerleader, our much-missed Bluepooch wouldn't be able to make a case for him on any recent performances. Man of the Match for Kings Lynn first up and steady backwards and soon out injured. Mandeville has it in him, but he's a poor man's Jay O'Shea. Splash out, get John Rooney. (Scunthorpe must be desperate to come down if they want Stefan Payne.)

Liverpool prove three strikers can work, but they all take different roles and are happy to swap with each other too. It tends to only be in desperate moments they draft in the big guy Divock Origi to grab that important goal.

It would shock me if an English Premier League side took Tshimanga, and I'm the one who has been singing his praises since he was at Oxford City. Now our friends at Huddersfield have two very good players in Koroma and Thomas who arrived having starred in non-league football, they might benefit from taking a look, but I'm not sure Amelia and Snoots have deep enough pockets.

If I were suggesting another player for the future I'd go for Mussa at Weymouth, he'd get into our midfield, add Asare from Oxford City at wingback, Tavares (Wealdstone) as a versatile centre back, then all I'd want is a proper goalie, but I'm afraid that would mean signing a 16 year-old and training him, because only a very exclusive list of keepers in the Premier League impress me!

So Rooney got a few minutes in place of Sarcevic on Saturday and Barrow have now bought him to keep them in the EFL.

Shame that due to the Rowe situation we weren't able to grab him. I'm sure he is what we lack. Now we need to get through today without selling Kabby.

Supposed to be some kind of announcement today/ tomorrow re Rowe. Reading the posts on bob's and Facebook, he's gone.
They seem to be wetting themselves about Paul Cook returning. Personally I hope they're wrong. Returning managers never seems to work out. PC nearly broke us financially last time around and needed money signings wherever he's been since. Not the one for me.

Cookie is old news anyway and never takes over a team at the top. My view is we should approach Kevin Davies and see if he would be prepared to work with Danny Webb etc to get us back into the EFL this time round.

Alternatively we might also approach Boreham Wood. I can't see how they can afford promotion on gates of 700. Their manager is young and we know he can get a team into the promotion picture.

Agree 100 % Dev. Only thing I would say is that we need to approach Borehamwood now, we might just avoid a dip in form. Dont think Kev Davies could do it as I understand he is an agent for quite a few players.
