FA Cup 2nd Round - Salford Away
#1
So we've been drawn away to Salford in the 2nd round of the FA Cup. Salford currently sit 19th in League 2 and have only won 4 in the league all season. After watching the TV game against Dagenham, I would say we've got a good chance of beating them because I thought Salford were rather poor and if Dagenham had took their chances in that game they could have had at least 3 goals. Hopefully we will have a fully strengthened squad by the time we play them.

Chesterfield is now up to 13th place in the Covid league, nestling in behind most of South Wales and bits of Scotland.

On this form and having beaten Southend with a team I wouldn't have been confident of against Borrowash Victoria, maybe we are going to take the Second Round seriously with its promise of a money-spinning third round tie, if successful.

Salford looked poor to me too against the Daggers. Had McCallum been available I'm sure they would have won. Indeed if Balanta had played, instead of whatever it was he was doing, that would have been enough. BUT, and like Cyril Smith, it is a big but, Salford have injuries too and have been completely out of form as well. There is much more to come from them, too. They've started winning, if not really playing. If they get it together it is a really tough ask for us - especially if we decide the league is our priority.

I hope Buxton profit from drawing Morecambe. Certainly the three away fans won't boost the gate, but we've spent years losing to the Erics, so I hope Diego can bring "Silverlands" some sunshine.

Come to think of it a Chesterfield v Buxton third round tie would be great, the winner gets Everton at home in the fourth round, who either of us could dream might slip up ....... until Calvert-Lewin's first half hat trick.

If it wasn't for the Class of 92 they wouldn't be getting this attention nor would they be where they are. Makes you wonder though if Solskjaer got the sack at United and the Salford job became vacant would they hire him to take over?

Solskjaer wouldn't come however much they offered. He'll have enough money to live five lives once he's sacked at Man disunited.

You wouldn't see Sir Antony Hopkins accepting the role of Fourth Dwarf at the Pomegranate Panto would you? Ole will find it difficult to find employment because his level is now Barcelona, Bayern, AC Milan, PSG etc and his managerial ability level is more Derby County and Bodo Glimt.

He is only at Man Utd now because he has to wait to be sacked. Why would he need another experience like that in his life? He could re-design a few fjords and invite Paul Pogba to test them out.

By the way £60,000 from TV would go a very long way towards buying Tavares from Wealdstone, best player in the league at the moment.

It would be a big come down Dancing to go from Premier League to League 2 but can you see him getting a job at a big club in Europe? He did a good job at Molde, struggled with Cardiff and has done a good job with Manchester United as they go through a transition period but you can see United fans are getting restless as they want silverware and success. They haven't won the league since 2013, they've won the FA Cup under Van Gaal and won the League Cup and Europa League under Mourinho but they want the league title.

Like Dev says £60k for being on TV will be good revenue for the club plus if we beat Salford it would mean over £100k in total of prize and TV money and a chance to draw a Premier League team in the 3rd round.

I definitely wouldn't go into management again if I were Ole.

With the players they have Man Utd should be challenging to win the Premier League. They can select a team of internationals from leading nations, but they are far more consistent on paper than they are on grass.
