Centre Forward?

Bromley have signed a 19 year old centre back called Alex Mitchell from Millwall to play against us on Saturday. The question is will we sign a centre forward tomorrow to cover for Asante and play against him?

No. We don't need to sign anymore players.

Tyson, Whelan, Mitchell, Yussuf Mandeville and Dinanga should be able to step up. If I was in charge I would be playing a front 3 against Bromley.

My team against Bromley would be.

Smith

Yarney
Maguire
Gunning
Whittle

McCourt
Rowley
Oyeleke

Mandeville/Clarke
Whelan
Mitchell/Tyson

You might be thinking why would you send that team out and I'll tell you for why. Games are going to be coming thick and fast Tuesday-Saturday non-stop till the end of May and at some point we are going to have to rotate players to conserve energy but also give players a rest so they don't become injured.

Dev, the last time Rowley started it was like watching him under Sheridan - uninterested. He was taken off at half time and hasn't been selected in the squad since. Unless he improves massively in training I cant see him playing again this season. JR has told him what he expects and so far Rowley has not delivered. Mandeville at least puts some effort in and tries. Try swapping Whittle for Taylor as well and that team could do it.

I'm not Dev.

Signed a new keeper James Montgomery from Gateshead on a short term deal.

I am Dev, obviously James Rowe doesn't listen to me about goalkeepers, still think he should get Mason for next season.

But a Jimmy Montgomery from the north east has to be a reasonable bet ........ doesn't he?

Are Kerr and Weston injured or suspended or something Matt? I haven't been keeping up. Otherwise why are you leaving two of our most consistent players out?

Asante has been a a big part of our success even when not scoring. Kairo Mitchell, Tyson, Dinanga, none of them are Asante like for likes. Has Rawson been training or furloughed? He'd be the best replacement in my book to play with Mitchell.

Like Dancing, I fear Bromley might stroll through that three-man midfield Matt. If Rowley played I'd want Weston, Whittle or Gunning or anyone stronger alongside him in a four-man midfield.

No Weston and Kerr are not injured or suspended. Need rotation to keep players fit and injury free, if we get a playoff spot and our key players are injured then we will struggle to progress. We've currently got 31 players and only 16 make a matchday squad.

Rawson went on loan to Bradford PA but don't know what's happening now there season is finished. A lot of fans of other clubs are accusing the club of cooking the books or spending money like its going out of fashion then there are fans who are angry that players got furloughed to then sign new players.

Sorry Matt, I must pay more attention. Its an age thing, read one thing and think something else.

The new keeper is until the end of the season so room for Mason yet Dev.

I get where Matt is coming from but Rowley worries me. I was a fan when he first broke into the team but aside from the odd touch of class (and I mean odd) he has been a passenger. Rowe obviously sees a footballer in there so good luck to him but IMO he will have his work cut out.

From what I understand the loan players that returned from other clubs early have been furloughed. I dont see any issue there, a deal was agreed and the clubs they went to must have been paying their wages. If they are stopped playing because of covid then either the club they are loaned to should furlough them or else we should be able to. We are not the only club doing this and it seems to be ligit.

There are players like Butterfield furloughed, wasn't loaned out, been replaced. I agree had Covid not happened those players would have been loaned out.

I certainly wouldn't risk deliberately weakening my team against one of my main rivals for a play-off place, but outguessing football managers is fools' business.

Well that result seems to show we missed Asante doesn't it?

Asante is out for 9 months with his ACL. Hollis out with an Achilles injury and Weston picked up an injury in today's game.
