Club Statement: Alex Neil


Preston North End Football Club can confirm that it has today parted with the services of its Manager, Alex Neil.

Alex joined the club in the summer of 2017 and he leaves us with our thanks and very best wishes for the future.

It is the intention that Frankie McAvoy will take up the position of interim Head Coach and work with Steve Thompson, Mike Pollitt and Paul Gallagher in taking the team for the remaining eight games of the season.

Inevitable really the form over the last 15 months has to say been patchy at least wasn't helped by the cpntract issues with the bigger players however when you say you have not got a Scooby what your best side is does kind of sealyour fate.

Sad but it is a result game and over the previous months we have not been getting them

Expect the usual suspect list to be produced by the bookies. To me you are the perfect club to look for an up and coming manager, you expect to stay in the Championship and a PO place is desirable but not likely demanded by the board or the fans, is that the case?

My personal picks would be Appleton, son is a fan also owns a pub in the area(remember them?) Karl Robinson get the feeling deep down he has always wanted to be manager. Two left field picks Ian Evatt did well at Barrow and is possibly taking Notlob up also the guy at heaven strike me down for mentioning them Blackpool, Wilder is available.
However there are rumours they want a Director of football with a first team coach type of scenario

At the time would have taken either Moore or Cook

But main priority is to stay up soem already touting for Ainsworth he's done well at Wycombe but hoofball with bif lads only works for so long.

We'll see what the future brings but for the moment it's West Indies v Sri Lanka and a beer
