Will The Season Finish Again?

Apparently Dover have ran out of money. A few teams in National League North/South are facing fines by the National League because they couldn't afford to play matches. Rather stupid isn't it, club can't afford to play the match and the National League on top fine them money for not being able to play the match.

National League North/South is null and void. National League will continue with not relegation.

So the National League North and South season is as if it never existed.

Therefore Gloucester City have no reason to enforce their agreement with us and would probably be happier transferring a player rather than furloughing him until his contract is up at the end of June-ish. All of which is a shame as this was Gloucester's best season for about 30 years.

So will our manager want another Gloucester player, at the expense of furloughing another of our players?

More important does this signal a rush in our division to snap up outstanding talent wanting a game from teams North and South? Dorking have one or two spiffy players nearby National clubs could loan in for the season, and in the North Fylde have one or two players, Murombedzi at Brackley always impresses me. Maybe it just comes down to which clubs are still going in the FA Trophy?

This decision, though expected, makes an odd situation ever odder. Much as profiteering from a pandemic seems inexcusable it does present an opportunity to sign a young player like Kane Drummond from Rylands, give him a chance of training full-time and have a first-team-ready exciting wide player for next season. He'll have played ten games or fewer this season - hardly ideal for a developing talent.

National league South voted to continue. Don't think this is over yet. If Dover throw the towel in what happens then? Gloucester have been very outspoken and rightly so about the curtailment. Maybe a play off with say the top 8 in each League with the top 2 going up. Answers on a postcard please.

If those who want to stop playing in our division do, there's not much anyone can do. They can't be relegated as punishment. Deducting them 12 points for next season would make the season ludicrous.

So if Gloucester got their way and their season with promotion and relegation continued, then those in our division who are struggling would have every incentive to stop playing now to make the season unplayable. But Gloucester's season could hardly continue with only six opponents.
