RE: Lennon bringing back Stanton and Harris to 1st team duties?
#1
Reported in the EEN that Lenny does not intend to loan out these lads and it's time for them to compete in a Hibs 1st team set up. I must say, I rate Stanton's chances of achieving some kinda status in Hibs 1st team as slightly higher than those of 'Boozy' Harris TBF! Stanton apparently had a reasonable loan period with Livy but the Lions were relegated all the same. As for Harris? I think he has not done enough at QOS although he did pick up MOTM awards for some of his performances with the Doonhamers. I still reflect back to a Hibs game v Motherwell a few years ago when an unscrupulous defender named Hutchinson 'took out' Harris on Hibs left wing and broke his leg, albeit a hair line fracture. For a lad with so much promise, he didn't seem to progress enough after his recovery! As for the 4 year contracts that both these lads were given, I still think that was an 'act of folly' by Hibs/Pat Fenlon. Will they make a significant contribution to Hibs Championship campaign? I don't think so and I'm more interested in Lenny's activities to bring in other new players asap. We need to strengthen up in certain areas of the team!

Will be interesting to see if either of them have developed the strength side to their game. Both had problems with being far too easily eased off the ball.

And yet look at a young lad like John McGinn who already has League Cup and Scottish Cup medals, fought his way into 1st team activities when he was about 17 years of age and looks like he's gonna play a part in Gordon Strachan's Scotland set up. It shows what can be achieved when a young player has the ability to progress and continues to do so.

McGinn is very much stronger on the ball compared to the other two. Hopefully Stanton and Harris have been in the gym to help this side of their game.

This is also one aspect that Cummings should be working on (along with working on his right side).....at present he tries and then gets out muscled and falls over appealing to the ref  for a foul which most of the time he doesn't get. If he moves on to sevco or the English Championship he will have to improve in this department. I think he should stay at Hibs for one more year and continue his development as he is far from the finished article yet and may struggle at a higher level at this stage.   Huh .....especially when coming up a better class of streetwise defender.

For me don't want to sound harsh but the bottom line is the two of them are to light weight to play for hibs. You put either player up against John McGinn they would look like his wee brother.

Don't feel bad saying this but time to let them go and move on to other teams. Sorry but that's life

I understand the budget is not massive Fred but these two lads have had their chance and clearly not good enough. Simples

I don't like saying anything bad about young players newhavenhibby I would love for them to make a impact but as 0762 rightly says young Harris has never been the same after the leg break he's scared on the park to run with the ball.

Also the players we have ie McGinn McGeouch Fyvie Bartley I don't see these two as better players. And if the rumour doing the rounds in Henderson & McGregor coming in is true there's no chance breaking into the team.

I think lennon was saying he was in favour of giving them a chance this season to prove themselves. Not necessarily will they be starting games.

Mcginn was a whole different kettle of fish to those lads and had played in the top flight regularly before he came to hibs.
