That would be the Heysel Disaster (or Riot depending on your point of view). Wednesday would have taken the last Uefa Cup place (I think it was) at the end of the season but the Scousers kicked off in the decrepit Heysel Stadium before the start of the European Cup Final against Juventus and a wall collapsed killing many Italian fans (I can't be bothered to google the number).

Never seems to get mentioned as much as some other disasters I could mention.

Sounds terrible. I've not heard of it mentioned since, the memory only surfaced in my mind as I was thinking as far back as I could to my first Wednesday memory.
I'm sure my old man threw me about in Celebration so I can count that as a promotion experience in 1984 Laugh

Out of the two formations, which would be most effective for us? 352 or 532? I suppose it depends on the players to fit the permutation

I'm not sure why we'd be offering Lavery anything

Wednesday confirm that new contract have been offered to Lavery, Price & Semedo.

Bennett, Pudil, Turner, Sasso, Lopez & McGeady have all returned to their permanent clubs.

Croasdale, Beatson, Meadows, De Havilland, Wildin & Booker have been released.

Just read it.

Not happy about Price being offered a new deal. Wildsmith & Dawson need to step up, to me Wildsmith has proven himself equal or better to Price.

Seme.. Can't see him playing but his energy and positivity around the dressing room is good thing. A wasted squad place though?

I expected most of our kids would be leaving, they're not quite cutting the mustard yet. Perhaps in a few years time we will produce our own starlets.

Pudil is likely to return. I'd take Sasso back and Lopez, I expect Villa will be needing Bennett now.

i think the thing is with price is hes happy to be in the reserves and called upon when everyone is dead ! where as other goalies will get impatient and possibly disturb team moral ? its a unit that doesnt need fixing realy !

lopez wasnt good enough for 3 quarters of the season and then played a blinder ? so either way i dont think we miss out on much ?

Bennet was no better than helan or pudil so whats the point ?

Pudil is a selfish pain in the arse that plays realy well every other game ? so again i wont cry either way !

Sasso is worth signing he can play with the ball on the ground and he could be a natural if we get to the premier !!

Turner & mcdidddly do well shall i even bother with a comment ?

and semi is being kept on as part of the dressing room backup and hes handy to have to be honest as when more portugeezers are signed he will have to show them what they should be eating and who they should be xxxx !!!

Disappointing really. Not what I would have expected from a team with ambitions of promotion to PL

hes keeping a good squad together and most wont play ? it doesnt mean hes not going to sign anyone ? im happy that wankers like pudil and mcgeady have left selfish shits ! where as we have kept less selfish players like price and semi although price is usless cc has thought about the team and not the stars !! shut up and go to sleep untill about august !! and laverey hasnt played since jesus was crucified whats the problem ? he didnt lose all his taoent overnight i dont think ? jurys out but carlos is a good manager and dc will back and hopefully this season we wont sign shite like the above who have left except for maybe lopez ? but again he only played well 5 games out of 15 ?????

Those are just the players we can offload due to contracts expiring. Unfortunately there's players like McGugan (2yrs left on contract) Sougou (1 yr) Melo (2yrs) Dielna (2yrs) and Bus? who are unlikely to feature under CC.

Those players will need to either be loaned out for lengthy durations or transfer listed. Hands are tied with some of the deadwood I'm afraid, unless other clubs are interested in them, we can hope!

I'm quite puzzled as to the Price contract offer. I don't feel that aids the development of the youngsters. But in Carlos I must trust.

Some of the so called dead wood might come good. Melo for example had a few very good games for us but did his cruciate. Apparently back fit now so should be in CC thoughts
