Pooch, I genuinely have great respect for your opinions and I think sliced open you'd be blue all the way through .......... so I'm intrigued to know what you see that's so special about Lavery. He works and tries for sure. BUT he couldn't make it in the Championship. Wednesday always picked loanees ahead of him. He's had several loans himself without spectacularly changing the fortunes of the clubs concerned. He doesn't seem to score or make bucketloads of goals ........ If I hadn't had the evidence of last season I'd be in for Ebanks-Blake over him every time. I'm happy to be convinced and I'd love him to come to us and do well. All I want is players who want to come to us. and don't see us as their last stop on Wikipedia before the Bananarama League calls.

To be honest Dev I don't follow his career that much I'm only judging him on what I saw when he was here and he was definitely getting his act together .I believe we would have tried to keep him for longer had he not been called back .
I wonder what Pompey fans thought of him .l don't even know how old he is but I'd guess mid 20s.

Only thing I know about Lavery is he scored that Worldie which did take a minor deflection but none the less was a cracking goal. Can't remember who it was against.

Interesting Pooch and Matt. He always seems to be on wanted lists in the lower leagues, but somehow nothing ever happens. It reminds me a bit of Jordan Slew at Blackburn, where they kept him on at Blackburn for about 3 seasons ....... so they must've seen something, but he's never gone anywhere or done anything. Maybe you're right about Lavery, given the right surroundings at a club that wants him, he'll flower.

See Duffy has gone to Sheff Utd, not a signing to inspire me if I were a Blade.

Jamille Matt must now be returning unwanted to Fleetwood, wouldn't you like him? Maybe Plymouth's Reuben Reid needs a new start now they've failed to get promotion again ..........

And me, I still like Danny Mills of Whitehawk, and he'd come free and surely wouldn't negotiate the richest contract.

But Lavery, I'll overcome all my reservations that he's just a permanent failed loanee. If he comes I'll trust your instincts Pooch. Instincts and gut reactions of that sort are often accurate. Knowing everything about a player, you sometimes can't see the wood for the trees.

Gut instinct can be an advantage over knowledge in a lot of cases.
I doubt he will come here but I'll be happy if he did

Jamille Matt would be a great signing he looked great against Portsmouth in the playoffs and has scored a few goals for Plymouth since being on loan with them. Surprised that Fleetwood don't want him.

Deane Smalley has been released by Plymouth, I thought he was at Oxford and Bowery doesn't have a club anymore would you take him back?

Mark Randall managed to bag a new club after being released by Barnet he's signed for Newport, wonder if Boden put a good word in for him.

Apparently Lee Novak is still on our sights even though half the Football League are trying to sign him but he's favourite for Portsmouth.

Lavery has lived off the two goals he scored for us when he came on as a sub against L**ds a couple of years ago. He was unlucky with injuries but never really showed the possibility of fulfilling the potential we thought he maybe had. He could do well in League one, but his goal scoring record is not great anywhere so far but if he can find a permanent home he could still progress.

Matt, I just love your updates. Between you and Pooch I feel as though we are really finger-on-the-pulse (even when it turns out wrong, like loads of stories in-and-around-the-game, but you need to know them all don't you?)

Jamille Matt never starred for Fleetwood despite costing £200,000 or something. He's free - but he looks scarily good to me. Plymouth will want him, but we are a division higher.

I'd take Bowery back any time. He scored goals for Oxford, but everywhere he goes he seems to be a sub'. Has Mr Stubbs decided to ditch him at the laughable New York?

Don't you love that SCO can't even write *EEDS? But that does seem to sum up Lavery at Wednesday, a bit too much potential to dump straightaway, but not enough to get himself a place.

Bowery got released by Rotherham back in January and signed for Oxford on a 6 month deal and now he's been released by Oxford.

Lot's of rumours going around. Latest rumour is there will be no more transfer activity until we found out what happens with Novak but I'm guessing we will have players lined up. If I was manager I would probably sign Jamille Matt and sign other players and get the players in so they can gel together.

When I play Football Manager and struggle to get in a player I would like to buy and he won't agree a contract due to wage demands I then look around for another player or players who are good and sign them.

I hope we are not putting all our resources into trying to get Novak and ignoring the rest .
