Scottish Cup Final: Hibs v Rangers, Sat 21 May 2016, KO 3.00pm
I'd be seeking legal advice if I were involved in Hibernian football club,Sevco release a statement saying players and staff treated for injuries sustained in an attack yet there is no evidence produced to substantiate that claim of there injuries, that in my mind is a total lie brought about to make things worse, you as Hibs fans should be taking this forward if Sevco don't produce,

I came back from Spain last night and had the pleasure of watching Hibs beat Rangers in the company of a lovely wee Spanish barmaid who kept me supplied with alcohol during the game - unfortunately I still had to pay. The match itself was full of end-to-end play and plenty of goalmouth incidents - just what Scottish football needs. Both defences left a lot to be desired and both teams weren't afraid to have a go, again a fine advert for the game. Of course, as a big occasion player, Anthony Stokes had a fine game and proved Alan Stubbs was right in signing him. Whistle The whole Hibs team gave it everything they had and ran out deserved winners in an exciting and tense game. Rangers had loads of possession, but as the Rangers fans on here enjoyed reminding us, you've got to score the goals to match that. Well, they didn't and 11 blue bottles shattered under the Hibs pressure. To score two goals in the last ten minutes against the runaway Championship winners, you've got to be special and Hibs skill, commitment and desire swept them aside.

After the final whistle, my emotions plummeted from delirious joy to disbelief and disgust in a matter of minutes. From the naivete of the thousands of ecstatic Hibs fans who invaded the pitch to the moronic thuggery of the tiny majority who intimidated and/or assaulted Rangers players and officials or caused damage to Hampden, I was horrified at the events unfolding in front of me. In one fell swoop, we allowed Rangers, of all teams, to take the moral high ground and give them a chance to twist the world-wide media coverage away from Hibs wonderful victory onto the after-match scenes.

Now, after all the years of fan trouble that have beset Rangers, they are getting pretty good at deflecting attention away from their own failings towards others. Witness the Rangers FC official statement, which complains that "BBC employees, in particular Stuart Cosgrove, believe Rod Petrie’s comments to be ‘balanced’ and others speak of a ‘minority’ of Hibernian supporters." Typically, Rangers FC cannot speak of a minority of Hibs supporters who had misbehaved. They like to give the impression that it was much worse than that.  I've read both Club's statements and the Hibs one seems to me to be perfectly balanced - http://www.hibernianfc.co.uk/news/6529 - but the Rangers one is the work of a bitter PR department.

My day was spoiled because all people wanted to talk about was these scenes and not the brilliant game of football. To be fair, Rangers made a large contribution to the game and their day was spoiled because their players did not have their medals presented to them in front of their fans and the decent Rangers fans did not get the chance to applaud their team. Hibs day was spoiled because the team did not get the chance to parade the newly presented Cup in front of their fans and the decent Hibs fans were also denied that pleasure.

I'll always remember the marvellous day that Hibs won the Scottish Cup and we should always take great delight in helping to put Rangers back where they belong - in second place behind Hibs!

Sco lets get one thing right here. I'm not saying it was right for the fans to run on to the pitch but the fans who ran on to the pitch did this to celebrate the clubs BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT in 114 years. It's very clear on tv footage Rangers players where either off the pitch or making their way off the pitch.

Any trouble started when the Rangers fans came on to the pitch why they done this nobody will understand this but it's clear they could not handle the celebrations of the HFC fans. I've looked at lots of papers and tv footage and there's lots more evidence that Rangers fans assaulted more HFC fans than the other way around. Even very clear picture of one Rangers fans trying to pull a small hibs fan away.

Now one point I'd like to make is when HFC made the score 2-2 or even when they went 3-2 up why dd the stewards and police not make a human chain at both ends of the ground they had plenty time to put this measure in place if they had done this then nobody would be talking about any trouble.

There's more stories coming out all the time I heard from a friend of mine who attended the Official Team Party at Easter Rd on sat night he told me that a few players had txts from rangers players to congratulate them on winning the cup and also said that Kenny miller was meant to have went into the hibs dressing room and shook hands with the hibs team. Believe what you wish but IMO HFC are getting a lot of bad & unnecessary press.

I am not suggesting you are condoning it but the media should be focused on the historic win, instead the actions of a small minority is taking all the headlines and that is a shame!!  No Hibs fans on the pitch and no Rangers fans feel the need to go on either, you can lay the blame for the media storm wherever you want but it was the Hibs fan that invaded, anything that happened after that was as a direct consequence of that invasion.  I also accept that 99% of those on the pitch were there to celebrate the fantastic win, but it will cost you as a club and tarnishes your reputation.
Sco I get where your coming from and we are going to have agree to disagree on this one. Just like to add this wee point as another pointer to maybe help you understand about scottish football .

The only people who like Rangers are Rangers fans - the only people who like Rangers fans are Rangers fans they stroll about all over Scotland Europe or where ever they play singing religious / sectarian songs what ever you want to call it making people's lives a misery with ther unruly conduct they are really unwanted by everyone bar Rangers.

Another wee point Mark Warburton has caused a big rift between the two clubs since his arrival at Ibrox with the Scott Allan affair he's slated our style of play he's had a go at Alan Stubbs now it's came back and bit him hard on the arse he can't admit he & his team where outplayed in a major cup final and in other games by HFC.

Now before I go everyone is talking about the invasion on Saturday I will only say one more word about RANGERS FC ................... MANCHESTER

GGTTH WE'VE NO WON THE BIG CUP SINCE ............ Quarter to 5

Very well put, and this was the point I was trying to make in a much more confusing manner!!!  The win was brilliant, the exuberance shown by fans was understandable but a few idiots gave Rangers and the media an excuse to make something of it, and as I say thats a shame!!

I understand Scottish football, not as well as you but even I know that this pitch invasion has gone from being a moment of joy to a bit of an own goal by the Hibs fans.  As Ritchie said, it gave the moral high ground to rangers at exactly the time when you were on top of the world!!

And you wonder why so many football folk in Scotland  despise Rangers FC. God!!! Where do we start? The reasons are numerous!!
BtW Saint Charles Owl, we still felt 'on top of the world' - the majority of Hibs fans collectively never allowed that pitch invasion to affect the jubilation and euphoria! You are reading too many negative comments and 'spin' re this issue! The Hibs support disappointed? Nahhhh!!! I attended this match and some of these assumptions/insinuations are laughable and unqualified TBF!! Even to the disappointed Hibs fans on here, all I'd say is WE WON THE HOLY GRAIL FFS!! The scenario after the final whistle was synonymous with Wemberley '77 and we didn't hear too much shit re that pitch invasion or more recent other ones!! A miniscule number of people tried to denigrate the event by attacking other fans (there were only 15 arrests!!!!!) - f### them; they failed and most Hibs fans left Hampden in party mood and that carried on into Sunday with the massive celebrations in Leith that will never be forgotten for a long time!! Thumb up

I'm afraid HFC it was a different club in Manchester....this one is only 4 years old lol    Tongue

Brilliant commentary at the end in the USA where their commentator is talking about "what a beautiful sight" with all the Hibs fans on the pitch.
