Thought we played the best football first half, but i think county had a better game plan when they changed it 2nd half and that's what counted in the end, they started to get in behind gray and pressure our centre backs a lot more. Neither sides final ball was very good and the game was played at a frantic pace. I have to say i was mystified at why we needed to play bartley AND KT in that side, the latter was rotten throughout and his shocker of a pass led to the first goal. Stokes and cummings are just too similar in style IMO to be a decent partnership, the amount of times i watched them going wide to try and cross to no one was infuriating, thats if they werent shooting selfishly at every opp. I'd suggest giving boyle a run in the side just to try and give us more width and pace. The pints of WEST afterwards ended up being the best part of the day ![]() (14-03-2016, 14:38)Fredstersafool Wrote: Clancy was pretty kind to hibs yesterday goal should've counted and how Bartley wasn't sent off is beyond me. Nah,the boy had his hand on oxley and any kind of contact with the keeper in the box tends to get the foul awarded these days. He totally bottled it with the bartley one - that was a clear red from where we were.

He was up so early Jim and Oxley hadn't moved never a foul there's a difference in the fact the boy was attacking the ball whilst Oxley was waiting for it to come to him, never a foul.
Was a decent game though, like you say Jim County played a system that was adaptable whilst Stubbs plays that diamond far to often, another fact was McGinn was in Irvine's back pocket almost the entire game.
Note for info the County game plan was a carbon copy of the Hibs 2007 Scottish Cup semi-final (and replay) v Dunfermline
when Jim McIntyre played in midfield for the Pars and should've been red-carded for persistent fouling together with Mason. Anti-football won the day again and maybe we should join the anti-football brigade and just 'park the bus' in all matches and counter attack as we don't win anything with our expansive option anyway! I read McIntyre's game plan like a book and could've sent Stubbs a full dossier on his intentions in this final incl the man-marking. By the way Bartley never made significant contact with the staggies defender who was trying to block him and the guy 'made a meal of it' - a yellow card all day long!

Seriously you must be the only Hibs fan who thinks Bartley shouldn't have been sent.

Keepers get a lot of protection now mate, those kind of fouls are given every week. Aye irvine had an excellent game.

No blood, no bruising Fredster and the guy got up none the worse for wear! A yellow card and the ref concurred with that view! I have an old scar above my left eye that needed 7 stitches - picked up in a cup tie many moons ago and that was a slashing elbow in the face and it was a red card offence! The difference is night and day! (14-03-2016, 20:15)TheWorthinGer Wrote:(14-03-2016, 19:49)Fredstersafool Wrote: Seriously you must be the only Hibs fan who thinks Bartley shouldn't have been sent. Ooops! Duly altered! Must have ICT on my mind although I did refer to 'the County game plan' at the start of my thread! |
