The Scottish League Cup final, 13 March 2016
#1
Two days to go and Hibs have now returned from La Cala, refreshed and fully prepared for the challenges of another cup final, this time v The Staggies. Will we win it? Well IMO Stubbsy has a Hibs line up available to him that will win it. However, will he choose wisely?
His likely team will be:

Oxley
Gray McGregor Hanlon Stevo
Bartley
Hendo McGinn Thomo
Cummings Stokes

Two of these positions bother me. One of them is Oxley in goal in this type of nervy match! The other situation that bothers me is Keatings prob being omitted. I think his recent high energy performance v ICT earned him a place but that's just my opinion! I watched the highlights of the Staggies semi-final v Celtic and what struck me from that match was the fact Celtic should've been 3-0 up after only 12 mins! The Staggies literally fielded an 'open door defence' and the main offender for Celtic was Leigh Griffiths who didn't capitalise enough although he did score one goal. I hope Stubbs has noted that flaw, particularly in the centre of their defence!

I'd go 3-5-2.

oxley

mcgregor
fontaine
gunnarson

gray
bartley
mcginn
hendo
stevenson

keatings
stokes

Think gunnarson looks decent and hanlon is doubtful i think ?

Front 2 i think looked good v ict and although cummings has done well in big games he's been poor for a while now so i might be tempted to keep him on the bench for this one.

Like to see Stokes and Keatings start after their show against ICT but I suspect Cummings will get the nod.

I like the look of Jim's selection. I'm sure Oxley will keep his place as now is not the time to change your regular keeper. Cummings as an impact sub for the last 20 or 25 minutes sounds OK to me, especially against a hopefully tiring County defence. IF he's had a kick up the backside from Stubbs AND he takes it as a positive like a good pro footballer, then it can only be good for Hibs. I'd also have Boyle coming on at the same time if required. As long as we play with style and conviction, we can win this, but we need Stubbs to be positive with his substitutions.

It was an honest question - has his form dipped since Stokes signed?
