Euro Dream For Brunt Ended !!!
#11
Agree with all that has been said. So very unlucky for Brunty and as had said before, we may not see him in a Baggie shirt again. Also, at his age, it could be a sad end to what has been an excellent career.

This type of injury isn't usually career ending though is it? I know it has a long recovery time but Brunt is 31 so still has at least 2-3 years left. And it's not like pace has ever been a part of his game.

Awful news for him, us and Northern Ireland. Not sure he'll be the same player when he comes back, we may replace him and he'll struggle if he loses pace, as it's already difficult for him at full back.

I just hope and pray Peace doesn`t give the sympathy vote and give him a new 3 year contract.
For us to move on as a football club the likes of Olsson,McAuley,Morrison,Brunt, and Anichebe need to be moved on in the summer.

I wouldn't be letting some of those mentioned leave yet either, especially Morrison. He's first team at the moment imo and even when we do bring other players in he'd be a solid squad player to have.

What I would be doing as a football club is bringing in promising younger players who can learn from and in time replace the likes of Morrison etc, as well bringing in more experienced players to balance that out.

Olsson and Anichebe leaving I could understand but only if we're bringing in players that massively improve on them, otherwise it's much cheaper to offer new contracts to current players.

Brunty was a shining light during our ongoing sabbatical. Couldn't blame him for moving on, although the fee could have been a bit more Whistle , when we entered the pub league Doh

Gutted for the lad. Doubt he'll get another chance at a Major tournament at his age and that's heart breaking.

Any club with good morals and scruples will at the very least offer a player (especially one who has played 400+ games) a one year deal until he is able to prove his fitness and be able to get a transfer to another club.  To even think of letting a player with a long term injury leave due to the contract expiring would be a real stain on that club, especially when you consider the money coming into the club via the TV deal!!!!!

Even Stoke kept one of their players under contract while he tried to recover from a concussion injury that eventually led him to retire even though he was never going to play for them again!!  That's not "sympathy" as you referred to it Rainbow, that just decent manners and caring for a loyal employee, shame on you for even suggesting it!!!!

I sometimes wonder if some of the posters on here deliberately try to upset others and post ridiculously controversial comments, or are really who they claim to be i.e. Baggies fans.
Seems to be the same people all the time.
