Well isn't this fun!!!
I was privvy to the costs of New606 and I do not know if they are the same for this one but I would guess they are not far off. I can assure you its more than 8 quid a month!! One of Bonner's many arguments was that the site never made any money and barely broke even, and thats with advertising revenues being taken into account. But in reality that is besides the point, the issues are bigger than that alone. So where do we stand now, here is a bit of clarification for all:
1. Only two words are currently filtered, the c word and the f word. While I am not a fan of censorship I can understand these words being filtered. Their use as an everyday part of posts is not necessary, so why can we just agree to not use them?? Nearly all posters generally don't use either of them anyway, so there are only a few who would be truly affected by this!! I have used the f word in posts, but usually only during the match threads out of frustration or when we concede a goal, now I can just as easily use a different expletive. So the initial filtering of a lot of words has been reversed after civil debate and only these two remain.
2. The use of images has been left up to me as to what is acceptable or not, and I need to draw the line somewhere. Again, it is true that these have always just been a bit of fun and that far worse images are available all over the place, but again that is not the point!! This is a football forum first and foremost and as such why can we not stick to that? Again, I question why do we need them? I know this goes against the grain for some on here and I know they cause no harm to us but we have to accept the wider audience and the wishes of the owners of the site. So here are the new rules for the match threads, and only the match threads as this is the only place the tits and arses are used anyway. I will allow the Kate photo for now, and any other photos of Pei's older ladies. I will not allow any moving images of up skirt walking up stairs or jiggling boobs. I would prefer to see images that do not include nudity but would ask the posters to refrain from using them rather than me having to remove them. Any photo of an overtly sexual nature is not allowed either. I know these leave some wriggle room for abuse but I ask that we be adult and sensible about this and try to find that compromise that will suit all.
As regards New606, it is the prerogative of all of you to return there if you wish, I for one will not be returning there after how I promoted this site and left and I would hope that you guys do not do so either. The facts that caused us to move here in the first instance still exist, that site is a dead man walking and will one day simply not be there due to Bonner's lack of TLC. This site will be maintained, will be promoted and I hope will continue to grow. At the end of the day I come on here to talk football, mainly SWFC, and I for one can live with the new guidelines and still do that, so I hope the rest of you can see the sense in this and also continue to contribute.
My last point is quite simple, through all the crap flying around over the past few days I am personally dismayed that some posters turned on Mark and Stairs by throwing personal abuse at them over these decisions. That is not acceptable on any forum and has never been allowed on here or the old site. I am saddened that you stooped to that level and in some ways confirmed the potential need for stricter control over language. There have been similar debates over these guidelines on other boards on here and in none of them was any abused hurled around, the subjects were discussed with some human civility, I for one am ashamed it was Owls fans who did this!! I have always had your backs and told you that discussions were going on in the background, but I will never support the sort of language that was thrown their way after all they have done to get this site up and running for OUR benefit. Some may think it is funny, but that sort of thing is not accepted in general life and as a moderator who does this in my spare time for no gain I cannot allow it to continue!!

so good luck with that charlie and maybe you will be doing all the mathc threads as maddix i think ? wont be doing them on here ?
