Baggievicar, I'm with you in hoping leicester lift the title, I hate spuds, if not the foxes then arsenal for me to win it. I hate the premier league closed shop but the way spuds behave and the way they unsettled Saido for half a season I do not want them winning anything, and how everything is now geared up for the FA's little favourites to monopolize the glory, all we need now is for UEFA to take back some of our champions league places and the great and the greedy, will be forced to play on a more level playing field ......

Aries, is the Baggie player in centre of pic John Talbot ?  You are a whiz on these old photographs.

Yes Talbot was playing that day; I looked it up in my copy of Matthews.
The goal scorers were Clive Clark (2) and Astle.

But here's a puzzle for the other Ancients on here to answer.

Playing on the right wing that day was a player listed as R Rees. I don't remember him.

He played just 10 matches for us that season covering both wing positions. He scored 3 goals in total; his last goal coming in our 6-3 rout of Man Utd at home. (We regularly stuffed 'em in those days)

The following season he made 24 appearances (six goals) and then disappears off the team sheets
His final game being against Southampton on the 18 January 1969.

I often went to matches in those days especially against the 'Red Devils' but, for the life of me I don't remember this player.

Any supporter from this era with a better memory than mine?

Silver, we bought RR from the Sky Blues. He was a regular up-and-down terrier type of winger (much like Chippy) and had a decent shot on him. Longish brown hair, about 5'8" who was a regular for Wales. I don't remember who we sold him to, though, but he was quite a decent player.

First away match for me this season, after the weekends result and Leicester's need to keep up their fine run and possible crowning, I think it'll be a decent match. I'd take a point now but feel a tight 2-1 loss is probably more realistic. Never been to the KP, coming from the M69, any ideas on where to park near to the ground for good walking distance/safety purposes?!

With the win on Saturday there's very little pressure on us now as we must be safe after taking what was a massive 3 points.

Got to say I'd love for us to throw a spanner into the works of Leicester's title challenge with this game; all of this talk from some pundits and media of how everyone would love Leicester to win it is so far off the mark.

Obviously our players played their part in the capitulation on Astle Day, yet to snatch the points in this game to go some way towards denying Leicester the title would be sweet revenge. Anyone else with me on that?

Tibby, really hope we'll win but also really hope Leicester win the title as it would caste away the big 5 domination and give hope to similar sized clubs such as our own.

I feel we will get a good result at Leicester, we owe them for the 3-2 earlier in he season and for the Astle day last year.

I really do not want them to win the league and would love us to wipe that smug smile off Mr Big Ears face by beating them, because of his anti-Albion reporting on MOTD.( Did we see the Brunty banner? the crowd applause on the 11th minute? a mention of the money raised by supporters for charity?)

Pulis has a knack of getting results when least expected, especially against a team who rode their luck earlier in the season.

Thanks Talksaft. Just out of interest I wickied the player and found out that he left us for the Forest for £5K less than we paid for him. He also played for Swansea and after retirement he went to work for Ford in Swansea.
In 1995 aged just 51 he suffered a massive stroke leaving him unable to speak or walk again.
Last heard of in a care home in south Wales.

Sad end for an ex Baggie and, isn't Chippy also in a care home somewhere?
