Who would have thought we would be level with Everton, 1 point behind Chelski, and 3 points behind Liverpoor at this stage of the season. DD Huh Huh

I would not dispute Olsson has to put his hands up for a big part in their first goal. However, I think Fozzy has to take some responsibility as well. Watched the game on Sky and they showed it from a different angle and you could clearly see Fozzy started to come for it and when Olsson saw him left it, at the same time Fozzy started going back.

At the end of the day though unless the defender is 100% sure the keeper is going to get it he should deal with the ball.

Ok I think I now understand what happened today. Pulis was abducted by aliens before the game freeing the players to actually play attacking football. Clearly the aliens realised their mistake and returned him at half time creating chaos in the Albion defence.
On a more serious note, awesome first half performance and we deserved the win . Great performances from Yacob, Fletcher and Saido but nobody let us down. Big question...why couldnt we be that positive against Reading, Villa, Swansea, etc etc?

I suppose the cloud behind the silver lining now is waiting for news on Brunty's injury. He looked a wreck as he went off. With Northern Ireland in the Euros this summer, you've got to hope he doesn't end up missing out on what would be the biggest event of his career. Hope it's not as bad as it looked.

Yacob was immense, I hope we don't sell him in the summer.

Yet again, we've seen that our defence is nowhere near good enough to play a defensive game, and that we can be much MORE effective playing WITH the ball, and attacking.
But will TP have seen that.........and will his reaction be to merely spend more time coaching the defence? Huh Doh

McClean being dropped made a big difference in terms of the football we played.

Sess, Saido and Rondon looked the part. That was more like the Rondon I remember watching in La Liga.

Had it not been for Olsson's mistake, would've been far more routine.

Sometimes we don't look like we're far away from being a decent times and sometimes we look miles off. Be good to get 3 more points and then see if we can start playing a bit more incisive football on a regular basis.

I know we are all tired of the boring and negative football being played recently. But it was interesting to hear TP say how much we had been missing Saido. Clubs are secretive about their weaknesses etc and maybe TP/JP are more so than many.

Maybe some of the negative style has been necessary due to absence and illness. Maybe TP would prefer the Palace (first half) approach if he had a fit squad. Maybe he hurts as much as us but does not show it or intend to declare his Achilles Heel to fellow managers.

Seeing a fit and positive Saido working well with Rondon and Sess did hint at what might have been this season had he and other not been unavailable due to tantrum/fitness.

Maybe with a tweak to the squad in the summer and either Saido staying or being replaced we might see more of this weekends style and getting rid of TP is not as critical as people think?

Victory should have been more comprehensive. Fully expected us to gift Palace a way back into the match at some point, just not so early.

Sess/Berahino/Rondon interplay was fantastic and we spend less time worrying about chasing opposition full backs up the pitch and have more control of the game. Also means only one of McClean and Gardner (who played well) should be starting.

Let's see what the rest of the season brings.

Need to give more credit to Gardner, one goal one assist, and an all round solid performance. He managed to wind up both Zaha and Cabaye, a steady performer when played in his preferred position.
