Do these draconian censorship laws mean the owls board can't have the magic arse (can I say that) anymore, if that's the case then it's a ridiculous idea and censorship at its worst, nothing good will come of restricting freedom of speech guys, history will show you that, and as has been said, we are all adults on here (as far as I know) apart from Thurnscoe anyway.
If language bothers anyone, just stick a disclaimer on the home page explaining it's a sports forum and emotions can run high, and therefore you accept no responsibility for any swearing .... or tits !!
remember guys, they are only words , and as long as they aren't directed abuse at a poster then no harm done eh !!

There's worse language being chanted by thousands of fans at any time up and down the country at any referee on any given Saturday. If you want to build an online community, work with it, don't just demand things be run one way only. There really aren't many freedoms left in the world, let's ease up on the totalitarianism eh?

There will be no banning going on on here!!! Things are being worked out in the background and a suitable compromise will be achieved that should be acceptable to all. In the meantime please be patient with us!!

As regards it being quiet on here, that normally happens during international week when there is no news coming out of S6 at all!! Posts will pick up again once we get back to the league games but in the meantime feel free to start a thread about something interesting that others may wish to comment on, football related or not!!!!

We are all adults on here as far as I can gather, if there were a bunch of teenagers/kids on here I could understand wanting some of the language/pictures toned down.

Cant someone just put on the top of a thread words like "there are pictures and language on this thread that may offend some people".

Guys: I just wanted to comment on what has been happening and ask for your understanding and support.
Mark and I were approached to build this site because of the unhealthy situation we were in elsewhere. We are doing it for the enjoyment. It is a fresh site and we are new to this. There will be differences of opinions and not all of them will get resolved quickly, if ever. But rest assured we talk to the Mods and we are looking to create an environment we can all enjoy and be proud of.

Forgive us for having ambition for a large membership and multi-sport interest, but why is that not possible? There are people talking on other topics and we could attract a few other interest groups - it's not impossible.

However, I am a football fan and this is primarily a football forum. Neither of us are prudes regarding language and images. But, for this site to have a long term future we need to appeal to more than the 209 members that currently have registered. It also in the longer term needs to be financially viable. Basically, we need increased membership as that attracts sponsorship and for that to happen we have to consider how attractive the site is to potential new members.

Modern marketing assesses a sites suitability for sponsorship based on content - jiggling breasts and Imre F'ing and C'ing left right and centre and using large fonts had us red lining on the suitability scale!

We had to react. In retrospect a little to harshly, maybe, forgetting that it is a football forum.

Mark and I will discuss the direction and steps we can take to achieve our objectives, whilst at the same time letting you have a greater free rein on the site. However, we can't accept the C Word (or the F word for now) and we do not want nudity or abusive visual images to be posted. Please try to understand and work with us.

We will look more to the moderators for guidance and agreement on levels of acceptability and we look for you to support them. Enjoy the site and work with us on this please.

And tell your mates (and even those who are not your mates) to come and join us.

I would just like to add, these changes are not being done just for the fun of it, nor are they being done at the behest of a single person, this really is about the viability of the site in the long run. Stairs and Mark set up this site after the moderator group approached them to look into the possibility of rescuing the old one. This was not possible due to Bonner, so they took it upon themselves to set this up and provide us with a stable platform to continue the "family" we had going. Its fair to say what they have created is better than what we had and I for one am happy they did that.

As time has gone by the membership from there moved over here and we also picked up a few new members as well, but the site needs to grow and it needs to be financially self sufficient as well. The fact that Google has downgraded the site due to the amount of adult content means that access to revenue from advertising streams is also being limited. Currently they are paying for the up keep of this site out of their own pocket, and they are happy to do so, but logically that is not a long term preference, so the site needs to have a grade that allows sponsorship/adverts to be placed on it.

So at this stage a few words are now filtered, but no where near as many as we saw over the last couple of days, and we would ask that members refrain from posting any pictures containing nudity or are of an overtly sexual nature. I know this means our lucky tits and arses (note there are no **** now for those words!!) will have to be left to our imagination but surely we can still move on without them?? As regards the swearing you will all soon see as you type what is acceptable or not but I ask for your assistance and common sense with this please.

I know some of you will not be happy with this, and believe me the debate behind the scenes was just as passionate, but this truly is the best course for the site as a whole. I hope we do not lose anyone over this, as imre said we have become a bit of a family over the last few years and I am convinced we can still be that for a long time to come!!
