Horrified when I read this.

Or is this just the usual shit stirring created by this rag of a paper.

Morning All,
Do not really see much in this, other than AI trying to Gee Saido up after him not being selected for the full England squad, but left to play in the U21's, where,IMO, he should be at the moment until he proves himself as consistent and able to take  the rough with the smooth.
It was not so long ago that he looked as if fame and fortune was going to send him over the edge into self destructive obscurity.
He appears to have put that behind him, but there is a long way to go until big clubs will pay big money for a still unproven top flight performer.
Also, there is nothing wrong in saying that if a bid came in, it would have to be a good one, Saido would have to want to go, and nobody would accuse him of anything if he was genuinely bettering himself.
We have to be honest, we aint no Arsenal, Man City or Chelsea, and if one of them, or a big foriegn club were to make an appropriate bid, he would have some serious thinking to do. Here, he will be guarenteed to play if on form, but going to a BIG club may mean he sits on the bench a lot, and may pass into well paid obscurity.
The Mirror seem to scandalise everything they print, so take it all with a big pinch of salt, and here's hoping Saido keeps on going the way he is, then the headache of possibly losing him may be more real.
Cheers,
            Kookiebags.

If you read AI's comments in the club press release from which the Mirror story was embellished, he did not actually say he was prepared to sell, it was more in the future I will not stand in the lads way if a good opportunity for him comes along. It is however a logical conclusion that in these days of money talking that if a big club comes in for him we would sell and if Long fetches £12 million you would expect price tag well in excess of £20 million.

Personally I don't think he will be going anywhere in the next 12 months, as I think he trusts the advice he gets from the club and they will point out he would only be a bench warmer at a big club at the moment. If I remember correctly he is contracted until 2017, so no panic on any front at the moment.

Yep, it's a news story (or non news story) created pretty much out of the bleeding obvious. If Saido scores twenty a season for the next two or three years and becomes hot property for England, then we'll squeeze some Champions League club dry for him and reinvest the money, same as Southampton have done, same as any club would do. Not that I think he'll be hitting those heights, at least not yet; he needs to keep his head down and keep working, and good things will come his way in time. I hope he'll stay at the Albion for a good few years, but I wouldn't delude myself into thinking we'll see a Saido Berahino testimonial come 2023.

I think its just the Mirror stirring, what i don't like are Irvine's weak utterances about the club would entertain a big offer from so called bigger clubs. What he should be saying is that the club have no intention of selling,he stays with us to make us a bigger club. But then we all know every player has his price Catch 22 i'me afraid.

Wasn't going to enter this discussion as I honestly feel it's NOTHING.....
..but after reading some comments I've just got to say that, IMO this isn't 'weak utterances' from AI at all. He's just using the questions asked to give Saido encouragement to keep on playing as he is, that's all.

Not having a go at anyone but it seems to me that a lot of folk do tend to jump on anything that AI does or says, and are almost wanting him to trip up. I know he wasn't everyone's choice, and he's got a lot to prove, but HE knows that - let's all get right behind the guy and give him a chance! Cool

Saido can go???

Can he flup

(speelings neer bin me bestist)

Another outstanding performance v 'Pool in their backyard.
I expect much sniffage from the Big boys (but that's another thread -( unlucky Ska'd)

The boy is hot property now and unlike Izzy I doubt he's going anywhere - unless a ridiculous amount is offered.

In a years time at this rate, he will be an England regular - a YOUNG English goalscorer.

WHERE'S THE JP HAND RUBBING SMILIE ?
I can go a step higher than Aston Villa
