The thing is after the summer spending and the progression we have made we are going to be linked with all sorts of players. I suppose these two seem a bit more believable as we have apparently made bids and not just inquired about them. Having said that we have no idea what was bid by us for either, there are all sorts of numbers flying around but it does show some intent on our behalf. The smoke screen stuff I am not sure about, especially if we did make bids, but I would imagine we are in for a number of players, not all of whom will come off and I reckon we can guarantee that we will sign at least one player that no one saw coming anyway!!

On paper he does have a better chance of getting promotion with them than us but either way its just a chance. I do think he would have seen more playing time with us but I am sure that's not that big a motivator for some players these days. Either way I am not convinced he would make the ultimate difference for either of us in terms of promotion but he would probably have been better than Nuhiu!!
As for FFP I think Derby will be like us (well I hope we are like this!!) and will know exactly what they can and can't spend based on the new rules and their wage bill. They do have the highest average home attendance this season and probably have the highest number of season ticket holders as well. Coupled with naming rights to the stadium and other sponsorship deals I am sure their revenue is bigger than ours. But as you say its going to be interesting for them and Boro if they don't get promoted, and maybe we could go the same way next season if we do not do it this season!!

I suspect that Derby offered higher wages & a longer contract. If that is the player's motivation then we are probably better looking elsewhere. I doubt he will get as much game time at Derby as he would have with Wednesday.
We move on!

Absolutely no sleep lost on Blackman, he sounded greedy. Even the Reading fans wanted shut of him to be honest.
We don't need to come across desperate or make any knee jerk signings. I hope DC or whomever is behind transfers keeps it sensible.
We're still linked with Williamson at Wolves and an improved bid for Judge apparently

Williamson has been on loan at Wolves so should be match fit.
I don't rate him personally and he's very, very slow.

Wasn't Williamson the guy that the ex Newcastle manager accused of getting sent off on purpose during last seasons geordie meltdown?

At this rate we might end up signing Sasso. he is decent enough at this level. He's also better than anything we've currently had links with.
Keep Turner on and have another dip in the market at the end of the season for a serious CB. No point signing someone on a 2-3yr deal, just because we need to.
Keep Hooper on, let's not be held to ransom over transfer fee's or players wages with regards to a striker at the moment. We can score goals, we need more support in midfield in my opinion. So if we're going to splash the cash we should go all in on a midfielder and hold steady on defender and forward.
