Ah well, I'm in company then  Rolleyes   dunno how good though  Laugh .. Dont read much in press now, if at all tbh, as I am too busy with my interest in the HiFi  world  Doh ... Still I'll believe it when I see it; far too many clubs down south with interests to be protected and outsiders are, at the moment going to be kept at arms length.  Big Grin

There has been speculation about Mark Warburton taking over at Aston Villa, which prompted the following on AVillaFan.

Larry would you have Mark Warburton as Villa manager

In a word, Patrick, Yes.
It would have to be Mark Warburton and David Weir and their backroom staff too.
I would also have MW and his team as the best candidates for managing England.
But neither will happen, 'Team MW' are at Rangers for the long term, maybe 10 years minimum.
Furthermore, MW and DW have already had experience of dickhead club 'owners', which is why they resigned from Brentford.
Why would they want to work for Lerner ?

Team MW have a long term project, to get Rangers back to the pinnacle of Scottish football and stay there, Patrick. In short, they and the Club have ambition, the fulfillment of which will come, through the modern and professional methods MW has brought to the running of Rangers.
This is a journey that Team MW will not be deflected from, it is based upon their pride in doing a job properly and well and seeing it through to the end. At Brentford MW and DW announced they would not be staying on after the end of the Season due to their disagreement with the Club 'owner', but they did stay until the end of the Season, seeing the job through there.
Lerner offering a bigger salary deal will not cut any ice with Team MW.

Feck, larry, you are relentlessly positive.

I don't anyone hangs about for less cash these days.

But I intend to enjoy the success while he is here.

One of Warburton's running themes to the press since he arrived has been the lunacy of the way managers are hired and fired so readily down south. I think Larry's not far from the truth - Mark Warburton seems to be enjoying Rangers, the surroundings and the atmosphere, and I don't think he'll be too keen on binning all of that to work for a club owner who'll likely give him 9 months tops to make Villa a success, or else.

Warburton also doesn't seem to be the money-motivated type - if he was he would have stayed in his city job and raked the cash in that way. He doesn't appear to be the money-splashing type of manager that English Premiership clubs seem to require either. He's already said that he prefers not to sign marquee signings, focusing on building a squad instead.

If he continues to be successful here, I think regular European football will just be another reason to hang around a bit longer than the three year deal he's currently on.

Ryan Hardie's first goal was a touch of class:

His second was another burst on to a through ball leaving their defence in tatters. His pace was telling.
