Perhaps all the criticism that we Baggies made of him when he was boss at Stoke now means he is seeking revenge on us.
He's going to get us into a 'nailed on' relegation spot then, at the last minute, resign to preserve his own record.

Silver, you know exactly the same thought has crossed my mind but didn't like to say as I would again be branded as being 'silly' !

Not sure I agree with the comment that TP inherited a good squad of players at Palace.
Weren't they rock bottom with several bookmakers already paying out on their relegation as they were
Played 11 won 1 drew 1 lost 9
Nobody gave them a prayer...
Just saying....

I remember that as well Squirrel which is why I've kept my powder dry regarding TP. Performances such as yesterdays are indefensible yet it is one game out of 38, still a lot of football to be played yet guys.

So far 8 games played and 8 points on the board, performances between those 8 games we all know were mixed at best... so far.

But let me ask you all this honestly:

Did we expect anything but 0 points vs Man City & Chelsea at home?
Did we not enjoy taking 6 points off both Stoke & Villa away?
Is the point gained at home vs Southampton not a good point, in hindsight since they took all 3 points at Stamford Bridge?
Likewise the point gained away at Watford. Seeing as Swansea who by all accounts play excellent passing football left Vicarage Road without a point for their efforts.

It's pretty obvious that we all don't like the brand of football being played, but some can see the bigger picture and with some 8 games played so far I will be expecting improvement in our play. As we all know that the players we have got are on the whole capable of playing some much better stuff, and we've only seen flashes of it so far.

Tibby,
I and probably most others would agree with every word you have said.
Away from home we are and have since TP arrived gone out looking for a clean sheet.
As I have said previously and will agree 100% with you that RESULTS are on the whole very impressive under TP.
Performances and tactics last season at home were OK, and TP did what he was brought in to do.
I guess what we all want is some sort of improvement as TP gets the team he wants. Hand on heart I don't want TP to get the sack, I think we are still way short of being a balanced team thanks to 2-3 years of rubbish recruitment.
Still hurts watching a display like yesterday and just hope that level of negativity doesn't start creeping in to home games like it did against Southampton.
I went to Watford and it was nothing like the Palace horror show, the poster who said it was like a non league team looking to hold out against a team from the prem hit the nail on the head.
The Sunderland game is massive, they are shit and if we lose that one giving them 60-70% possession then TP will be under severe pressure. Let's have a performance like 1st half against Villa or Everton please .
I am neither a happy clapper or blind, but there is a bigger picture and when things look bleak it's just like the Albion to turn it around.

Thumb up

Hang on - you're being a bit generous:

a) NO. But during the course of both games there was just no intent to take the upper hand. Even relegated Clubs take points off the Top 4, if they have a go. We never gave it a go in either game until Terry was semt off, and if we'd drawn level Pulis would probably put another defender on.
b) Stoke was possibly as bad as Palace. Villa was good - but not THAT good.
c) Oh yeh. And Japan beat S.Africa, who beat Scotland, who beat S.Africa.
d) Watford was an appalling display whatever the result. And if we're hoping to stay in the Prem that was 2 points lost.

....and you've missed out the horrendous Post Vale and Norwich displays.
In my book, we've just played reasonably well against relegation-bound Villa, and for 1/2 hour against 10-man relegation-bound Chelsea.
Start every day off with a smile and get it over with

We'll have to agree to disagree mate, as where you feel I'm being generous, I think you're being very harsh.

I'm by no means saying I think we're playing well but we've got some good results whilst we've played poorly, and to use what is a pretty worn out football cliché, teams that grind out wins when they're playing poorly have much less to worry about imo.

The only "good result" was against 9-man Stoke!!! Villa away maybe, but we should be aiming for at least 4 pts against So'ton and Watford.
Are you including the win against Port Vale as a "good result"?

No I am not including that as I was talking about league games.

I'll say it again. I don't think we're playing well, at all.

What I said above was 8 points isn't a bad tally for a team playing as shit as we are. Would you agree with that statement?

I would like to know what this "big picture" is that those of us who don't want Pulis apparently can't see. From what I've witnessed over the last 9 months, the only things I can see are us becoming the most negative team in Premier League history, being quite rightly vilified by various commentators, falling crowds and a long, painful slide back to the Championship.
Perhaps someone can enlighten me to what I'm missing.

Lets conveniently forget that our slide back to the Championship hasn't been happening for the past 3-4 seasons anyway.

Forgive me for trying to add a bit of optimism to the forum, seeing as all you lot base the entirety of the rest of the season off the first 8 games we've played.  Doh
