How about this?

Something I've been pondering.

Ignoring last nights game, TP has done a good job of making it hard to score goals against us! The overwhelming problem is what we do with the ball and is clear for everyone to see.

What if we had a defensive Coach and an attacking Coach. Like in American Football.

Not saying it's as straight forward as NFL however you could have TP manage the back and defensive work, retrieving the ball etc...

And then get someone like Di Mateo, or anyone who has a decent attacking Style to be responsible for the top end!

Yeah, because the best way to judge our defence is by measuring us against the two main league contenders!

apologies for this obviously ridiculous post, was only trying to spark some conversation about different approaches to management...

I shall return to the shadows now

It's as if the Coaches have told the midfield not to challenge for any 50:50 for fear of giving a foul away, or getting booked. We're far too soft, and if they don't know how to tackle properly they should be TAUGHT by the Coaches. What goes on at Training is baffling me. All season long we're unable to pass the ball to our own players, surrendering possession - then we're too soft to get it back....apart from Yacob, who CAN tackle, but prefers to leave his studs behind.

An attacking Coach is a good idea, as most of our assaults are coming from Dawson, who at least tries, but he's not gifted enough to be our main threat going forward.

When we tackle we get a disproportionate number of yellow cards, games when we commit far less fouls but get many more cards than the opposition is common place, we seem to be getting fewer decisions from officials, two goals last night should not have stood, how many times has this happened to us. No amount of coaching can rectify that. But the idea of different coaches for different positions makes sense.

In American football it is not unusual to have a coaching staff of 50 plus (I know unbelievable).

I think TP misses one vital principle, if you have and keep the ball the other team can not score. Unfortunately the set up which TP prefers, the defend at all cost, means that far to often the only way to defend is pump the ball long and hope for the best but invariable the ball comes straight back, if you watch the way several teams have played against us lately they are tending to leave a couple of players on the halfway line when they are attacking just waiting for the punted clearance. Look out for it.

Oh dear Laugh Thumb up

I'm really on the fence with TP .......

I'm glad he came in when he did last year and saved our bacon,

For the goals against we also have 4 clean sheets,

However I feel some players are unfairly criticized.

TP has to take the blame last night.

Let's take James Chester, Hardly played, yet gets criticized all the time.

Hull fans were devastated when he left. Player of the year and this was in the Premiership.

Has he become that bad, was he doing that badly last night at CB?

Why TP changed him around with Dawson i'm not sure.

Dawson has improved at RB so why change him to CB and then Chester to RB when his best position is CB.

Cant always predict whats going to happen in Football but if he had just left it as it was I'm sure the outcome would have been different,

God help us at Palace on Saturday who have pace to burn all over the pitch,
Gmac is again doubtful which is a huge problem but yet again a problem we all knew was going to arise with a ageing back line that should have been rectified in the Summer Angry
